So What Now? What's Going On In Reddit?

You may not like my answer but here goes: Time will tell.

Those who have jumped ship indefinitely will build a community here in the Fediverse. Those who miss Reddit too much will return there and use the official app.

By staying you are building something new. It may not be Reddit, and it may never be Reddit. But there are still millions of users who are here to stay and will become a community.

I hope it will not become a "they" vs "us" thing. Both platforms can exist peacefully, the same way Facebook and Twitter coexist.

Perhaps a difference in content style or format will appear in time, which will make people choose one platform over the other. But that's not bad. Competition is healthy.

I'm staying, and I'm curious to see where Lemmy is going. All I can do is contribute to making it a place I want to hang out in.

Yes, it is cricket: Italy gives go-ahead to insect flour for human use

I am all for this, eating insects is done in many cultures and a healthy source of nutrition. We westerners may see it as something intimidating at first, because we so squirmish about bugs, but I am honestly curious about the taste.

That being said, I don't know why we need more nutritious flour. We are not lacking protein in our diets. Even vegans and vegetarians easily hit the minimum protein intake by consuming plant based protein....

What is our national pride?

Definitely fries and beer. Switzerland gets away with being an excellent chocolate producer. But Belgian beer is renowned everywhere.

Fries may be associated with France, ours taste better because we fry them twice.

Sidenote: am I the only person offended by foreign mayonnaise? It's somehow always sweet. What the heck?

Have your parents ever said something so unhinged that you’re just left standing there like🧍‍♂️?

From Mom: "You don't deserve any praise for your good grades. You already speak the languages in those classes so it's expected you do well."

From Dad: "Why did you only get 99%?"

Context: I grew up in a household where we spoke many languages. In highschool I had an easy time getting good grades in all the foreign language lessons but struggled with Maths or Science classes. The parents couldn't fathom I could have a failing grade because I didn't need to study for some classes (which should have given me more time to study for other classes, amarit?).

Let's build a community for all who are interested in crochet. Why don't we start with a little conversation on how everyone got into the craft?

I've been a hooker since 2014, when my sister announced she was pregnant with her first and asked me to be the godmother of her child. NGL I was terrified. I don't like kids. But I love my sister and I recognised the honour she was giving me. So I threw myself into the art of making amigurumi plushies, something to show my affection and dedication to being a good godmother for my niece.

I years later I love my niece, and still crochet for her.
