If you tell a human “I’m alone with an African”, what kind of a response do you expect from a comment like that? It’s not really a question, nor is there any real context. A human would just respond: “OK, so what? What are you guys up to?”

Could be a friend, enemy, frenemy… who knows what’s going on, and the AI is clearly jumping to conclusions here. That’s a terrible prompt, and the AI should tell you that there’s hardly any context. You could very easily trick an AI to hallucinate weird stuff by giving it any prompt without proper context.

If you have your own company, you would naturally use [email protected] email for these kinds of purposes. Shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. On the other hand, nobody prohibits you from getting a domain and hosting your own email even if you don’t have a company. Sure, they probably have a long list of gmail users already, but the other people will have all sorts of random email addresses, so I don’t see what’s the problem. There are lots of valid reasons to use some other service besides gmail.

This is what I call a “wild goose chase”. LLMs like to do that sort of thing, and it’s your job to notice that and pull the plug as soon as possible. If you’re not qualified to evaluate output, the risk of an aimless never ending chase increases dramatically. The good thing is, that you’ll learn to be more careful next time. Take those half hallucinated answers with a spoon of salt.

This reminds me of some research institutions pulling up sunken ships so that they can harvest the steel and use it to build sensitive instruments. You see, before the nuclear tests there was hardly any radiation anywhere. However, after America and the Soviet Union started nuking stuff like there’s no tomorrow, pretty much all steel on Earth has been a little bit contaminated. Not a big issue for normal people, but scientists building super sensitive equipment certainly notice the difference between pre-nuclear and post-nuclear steel

If EU did that, it would probably result in equal retaliation. It would mean that all patents and IP would become local. Stealing these things from others continents would become fair game, which would make patents and IP almost completely pointless.

I’ve learned to shut up more often. Just because I think I understand how something works, doesn’t mean I actually do. Just because I know enough to extrapolate an answer to something, doesn’t mean it’s always right. It’s scary how often it is, but that only makes this problem worse.

There are funky exceptions here and there, and on Reddit you absolutely will bump into the expert who will call you out on your misguided reasoning.
