It's not official until the convention, but it's not hard to keep a tally of the number of delegates that have voluntarily endorsed her or said "she will get my vote". They're just reporting that the tally is high enough that she'll win if nothing changes. It's just....the news reporting stuff.

Last time we had a candidate this old, he was a Democrat and he stepped down. If I was a young Republican voter I'd be asking myself why my party only wants to prop up elderly candidates. It's insane to allow someone as old as Trump into the oval office, and we've heard many Republicans say this recently! Hopefully they'll continue to voice this opinion and vote accordingly. I know what I would do if I were them.
