When is it justified to use AI-generated images?

Learn using image generation properly rather than accepting slop and use it when you need it's. Just like with LLMs generating text.

These tools are going to stay and they can be useful. Refusing to use them when they are useful for a good cause is not going to help anybody.

Also, problematic aspects of these tools are always related to capitalism. Artists whose work was used against their interests suffer because of conditions of our current socio-economic system. In a system that doesn't make relationship with art alienated, it wouldn't exist.

I'm strongly against death penalty when it comes to crimes of individual against individual.

I am for death penalty when it comes to crimes of influential individual against masses though.

A murderer or rapist who ruined one life doesn't deserve death penalty. A corrupt politician who ruined countless lives cooperating with the billionaires does.

In yaml a mistake in indentation can easily result in a business error without config becoming invalid.

Writing too much complex configs in files is a problem too ofc, we ended up moving a lot of stuff like that to a DB lately.

I'm not a fan of indentation being logically meaningful not just in yaml. If you mess up indentation in python you can also get a technically valid code that's wrong logically.

Managing knowledge and feelings that can't be shared

If you say that personal anecdotes are welcome and you seek emotional self-reliance, I have something to share I guess.

Adults can have immersive imaginary companions in a similar way that children sometimes do.

If you spend time on interacting with an imaginary character, two qualities can emerge from this:

  • you learn how to think from perspective of this character without putting effort into that. This makes the experience of imaginary companions "talking back" to people.
  • you cultivate a relationship with that character that's like relationship with other people.

There are some internet communities practicing it. You might have heard about tulpas, soulbonds or daemons. Some kids and some writers experience it too, some scientific research mentions "illusion of independent agency".

I have been practicing it myself for over a decade and can say that I believe that it had a positive impact overall and only positive impact after I unlearned popular tulpamancy and started approaching my inner relationships with more dialectical-materialist mindset.
