How come manufacturers use base 10 units when calculating the space of a hard drive? Giving you 931GB per TB Hard Drive. Why not advertise the number windows reads?

This problem basically stems from the issue that Windows displays Mebibyte/Gibibyte values, but falsely calls them MB/GB instead of the correct MiB/GiB, for whatever reason.

This has been an issue for decades and I don't think it ever got addressed.

My guess is they don't want to irritate users not only with the "wrong" menory size, but also an abbreviation they don't know.

If you are rich, sure, no problem whatsoever.

If you barely get by, try travelling around regularly on a whim like that. I don't consider myself poor, but I wouldn't do it, it just doesn't sound like a financially safe decision, especially considering the times ahead.

Real

Am I the only one around here who doesn’t think it looks like shit?

Geoscentific and ecological implications aside, they have a huge ass continent with multiple giant lakes and small peninsulas all around. With a comparable vegetation to earth, this would look amazing in person, I believe.

New to Linux which OS to use?

As someone who's been in this for a while, go with Mint.

It's not a "beginner distro". You can start there, you can stay there as long as you don't develop any super niche prerequisites. Even then, Mint can probably do it.

The developers are sane and it's a popular system that has been in development for years with many tweaks and improvements. There's a big community around it if you need help/guides.

You just can't go wrong with it.
