Reddit CEO tells employees that subreddit blackout “will pass”

I never understood why they decided to come back Wednesday to begin with. Protests don’t work when you schedule an end date.

ELI5: What's the differences between Lemmy and kbin?

Yeah that’s totally wrong. Please don’t post chatGPT summaries as a way to fill gaps in your knowledge.

Idk how this is possible either, almost every sub I subscribe to is black, why would that not impact rev?

I’m fine with them being communists. I’m also fine with them not moderating things. I’m not fine with them denying genocides or denying repressive facts about historical or present socialist regimes.

I’ve been using beehaw, but more important Feedly (RSS) because:
I can subscribe to YouTube channels, Reddit/Lemmy communities, and independent websites. That’s all my stuff in one place!
It’s algorithmically ranked, but I control the algorithm.
I can get to “inbox zero” and don’t re-see stuff I already read. No more doom scrolling.

Startrek.website have cleared out their spam bots, giving us an indication as to what the true user count is for lemmy
I think post/comment frequency is the best metric tbh. Activity matters more than user count.

Goodbye, everyone
Yeah if you don’t enjoy the work don’t do it! Open source leaves its own legacy. You built the starting framework and thanks for that work! Now go chillax!

A few quick notes
So if we are a non profit coop, can we get paid for code contributions and moderation via the donation pool?

That’s sad. Maybe he can Open Source it as a deceased project then someone else can do the migration work.

I kinda side eye people who don’t have nuanced takes about North Korea
Genuinely curious, what kind of nuanced take is there around North Korea to be had? My impression is it’s basically a slave state with a God King.
As a leftist the only positive take I have about most of these states is that A. The ideas were new and they didn’t know better, or B. The situation they came from was so bad they were justified to try something, but then they got power and grew authoritarian as people do. For instance I think Cuba had every reason to revolt. I also think Castro was a repressive dictator.

Can someone please link a list of offending material? Are both devs at fault or just one?

Introducing lemmy.world/c/autism
Honestly I kinda like /c/neurodivergence for several reasons:
I think that classifications of neurotypes are something not quite finished or maybe even fundamentally flawed. There is so much overlap, I like the label neurodivergence. It will outlast DSM relabeling.
The community is small. One big group is better than many smaller groups.
