it looks like maybe the movie’s heart is in the right place, it’s the narration that’s doing it a disservice? Between the marketing and Oldman casting, it’s like a clumsy step towards acceptance, but stumbling into a mess.

supposedly the original cut is “gorgeous” (says Dinklage) and the theatrical cut is horrible.

I don’t think context helps; he’s the best firefighter pilot in the crew and they’re not married, he just agreed to retire/train pilots instead of put out fires himself.

And that guy she makes eyes with does swoop in to marry her after Dreyfus dies.

I think this is just meant to be a small town community with 2 big characters everyone else revolves their lives around, but uhhh, those have never been my kind of story; especially in older movies where everyone who isn’t a main character is overweight, old, and/or BIPOC.

It’s like seeing someone with main character syndrome in their own little fantasy land.

—I mean, I know stories have main characters and this is one, but like… so over the top this is with everyone’s indulgence.

Hey there

One experience I had with an anesthesiologist was pretty much them putting the mask on me, a moment or so passes and I ask "wait, aren't you gonna ask me to count down from 10 or something?" and the guy was like "...what? oh, right, uh, sure... countdown from 10 or whatever." "10-- zzzzzzzzzzzz"

outsmarted

I had a roommate once ask me to come with him to buy a $40 table he found off Craigslist.

We show up, they show him the table.
"k I'm all ready to take this home, the thing is... I only have $20."

Motherfucker brought me in just to help pressure them into his haggling.
I mean yes it worked, but I was so goddamn uncomfortable. I have no idea what happened to him/we haven't kept in touch, but it sadly wouldn't surprise me if he was some god awful CEO.

Useful Life Skills [extra fabulous]

And then I’ll remind you that it’s well within most governments’ capabilities to do their citizens taxes for them. Also any for-profit service you use to do your taxes uses the money you give them to lobby the government to keep the tax system this way. Also your taxes are getting used for unfathomable crimes, and there’s no paper trail or audit done to them to prove your tax dollars are going where you’d like them to.

Suspicious

It’s just a box that so happens to let you proceed if the string supplied in its field is your password. There’s no question mark involved so it’s not a question.

Dab on it, your honor.

How much brainrot can you handle

As long as it doesn’t make the employees’ day harder/they had a head’s up, then uhhh rock on 🤙

I had to stop so may “pranks” as an usher at the movie theater because they were too disruptive.

One guy came in and was cool about it, “what’s the deadest hour I can do something in your lobby? we won’t hurt anyone and just want to be silly.” and we let him; he just dressed up like a pigeon and pecked at popcorn people would spill, sometimes out of shock when they saw him.

This one looks pretty harmless/the employees were chill with it based on one of the being silly enough to try and kick ‘em.
