The last one is a significant concern. Huge trucks and SUVs are so prevalent and they're so big it seems like the drivers aren't as aware of their surroundings. I'd love to see us move to taxing based on vehicle weight/mileage since it's the true measure of how much wear a vehicle puts on the roads. You want that insane Hummer EV? You're paying 20x what the guy in a Civic is paying.

People have mostly been getting degrees to get a good job since at least shortly after WW2. It’s silly to pretend people are going massively in debt without the expectation of a return on that investment.

Nothing against people learning for the joy of learning, but I absolutely hold schools accountable for not making job prospects clear when most of the students are both young and ignorant of the world.

As far as laptops go, exactly which company is producing a competitive product to Macs? Like at this point it’s a no brainer, get a cheap Mac for an average user and they get better hardware and don’t have to deal with how bad Windows has become. I’ve even switched grandma over to one after her PC died.

I run Linux for my own stuff but given a choice between a mac or windows for work I’ll take the Mac every time. Even the cheapest Mac beats the typical business laptops. Good screen. Touchpad that doesn’t utterly suck. Better performance.

Used out of warranty Tesla are cheap for a reason. More expensive insurance and repairs.

Apple directly makes money off iOS apps and in most of the world you can only buy via their store. On the other hand, I can and do buy games from GoG and run them just fine on my Steam deck and can still benefit from proton.

The only reason I buy most of my games from Steam is they make things even easier than buying from GoG.

Epic doesn’t do a single thing that doesn’t directly result in profits. Features are only added off they can derive income from them. Lawsuits are filed so they can take a larger percentage of profits. Even his twitter posts are mainly about him getting a larger cut, when he isn’t defending AI child porn.

Valve is very old school in their ‘keep improving your offering and it will work out’ way. Usually companies like that get bought out and their name run into the ground. It sadly happens in all industries, from Samsonite luggage to BioWare games and even service companies.
