At first it was still brown people with a corrupt justice and correctional system that locked up innocent people and rented them out as legal forced labour.

Then it became just maintaining a large basin of poor people through putting hurdles in the way of higher education and poverty traps (in which brown people are overrepresented). The point being to make them desperately fight over limited "unskilled jobs" for which they get paid just enough to keep them too busy starving to fight for better conditions.

I know Americans who work 65+ hours a week and can't even afford their own apartment. Forget raising kids on top of that. People are literally kept too busy to do anything about it. During COVID we saw people starting to refuse to do those jobs for that pay but we never saw a durable breakthrough.

Seriously that should be #1. They charge 2-3% transaction fee to the vendor, give you 1% back as a "reward" to give you the impression that you're not being screwed over and pocket the rest. Meanwhile Interac charges only 1/10th of that and it is Canadian.

Paying with a credit card is like playing a 1-2% tax to the US. I'm sure if someone did the math they'd be horrified by his much of a drain it is on our economy while it boosts theirs.

Also Krita has become extremely capable and easier to approach coming from Photoshop than GIMP IMO. If should at least be listed along it as an alternative to Photoshop.

I've recently realized one thing: I now use Interac to pay instead of my credit card. Using the credit card is like paying a tax that sends money straight to the US. I hope more people do so.

Exactly. Essentially, about 1% of every dollar spent in Canada using an American credit card goes straight to the US like a tax. People should spread awareness about this.

Man-made horrors beyond comprehension

On my city's nature trails there are signs on the entrance of unofficial paths in the woods warning people that the ground could be uneven and slippery.

How pathetic have we become as a species that we can't even let someone walk in the woods without fearing a lawsuit?

Edit: I even remember being told by an employee at Costco to walk the long way through a long empty queue instead of simply going over or under the chain because "I could have hurt myself" doing so. Overprotective nonsense like that makes me want to live in a cabin in the woods away from everyone.

Canada should impose a levy on oil exports to the US.

We probably already have thousands of them out there but they never recieved the education they would have needed to unlock their potential and or are too busy surviving in abject poverty to contribute to the advancement of humanity.

Because shitheads like him hoard all the money and do everything they can so others around them are stuck in the poverty trap so they can use them as cheap, desperate and exploitable labor.

I get that they had to play along and give him the benefit of the doubt for the sake of giving negotiations a chance. But I'm glad they finally got enough evidence now to safely declare that a deal with Trump is worthless, even if you're Canada.

For me a quick web search turned up plenty of posts from people complaining about the desktop environment provided way of disabling it not working. Most of them had no replies. Others had tone-deaf replies suggesting to turn it off using the option they said wasn't working. And finally a few suggested to run a variety of shady scripts that mess with the guts of the system with no way of undoing the if they break something.

And I'm so happy for you that it works for the games you play.

After a much deeper search, I've found out that buried in there was the actual answer I was looking for: The Linux version of Firefox is independently applying a middle click paste on its own regardless of whether you've had it disabled in your desktop environment options or not. For those who are struggling with this: You can disable it in about:config by changing "middlemouse.paste" to false. If you've also disabled in your desktop environment settings, it should be gone for good.

One thing I wish Linux got its shit together for is the middle click paste selected function. I tried to like it, but if you work on editing a long text this shit is downright a liability. I was working on a 20 000 word essay and when I thought I was done and was about to submit it I realised that when I was scrolling through it to work on it the center click was accidentally clicked a few times and it pasted random bits of text throughout.

This also makes center click unusable in video games.

I want the ability to turn that shit off. Ctrl C and Ctrl V is plenty practical already. KDE has an option to disable it but it doesn't actually work.
