Purism found a way to make its Linux phone even more expensive: meet the $2,199 Liberty Phone - Liliputing
What’s not to like about a device sporting a 5 year old CPU paired with a 720p display and 4GB of RAM costing 2.2k usd?

Is the out-of-the-box quality of desktop-focused Linux distros declining recently?
Avoid Manjaro and use something like Endeavour OS if you want an Arch based distro.
I’ve used Manjaro in the past and had tons of issues with it. The distro itself is Arch based but does not follow the same update philosophy.
Updates are stalled to apparently test for any potential conflicts, except it seems that they do not do any testing at all and just hold back on updates and cause more issues by doing that (ie package dependancy lagging behind)
Not to mention all the drama and shady stuff that was and is going on with Manjaro, I would not recommend that distro to anyone.
I’ve also used Mint, Kubunutu, Pop… and even Garuda on various desktops and laptops and never run into any game braking issues upon initial installation.

Steam Deck compatibility with Starfield to be discussed "later down the road" | GamingOnLinux
Reply in thread
I son’t really have any doubts that it will work on the deck, as in we will be able to run the game.
The performance is what worries me. I’m expecting, but would love to be proven wrong, massive trade offs in order to be able to run it at playable fps.

Valve just proved the Steam Deck is still unchallenged by its rivals — here's why

Steam Deck using Linux puts it above anything else in the handheld category. It’s truly a device you yourself can do anything with, with no limitations or hard locks.
Not to mention the sw and hw support which both are excellent.
Realising that there is absolutely no way for me to, for instance, make a local backup of saves / settings, not even a way to access them on my Switch is a very sobering experience.

Times out while importing your CV, blanks all the fields and makes you redo it all from start.

Sci-fantasy roguelike Caves Of Qud is getting a full release in 2024, after 15 years of development
What an enchanting game this is. I’ve never made it that far but the world building is simply superb. Recently started playing it again on my Steam Deck and it plays wonderfully.

The best open-source games you know
Have not seen anyone mention one of the best rogue like games out there, Tales of Maj'Eyal
Base game is free to download and play from their website. Massive world, tons of loot, an incredible number of classes and abilities to combine, it's such a fantastic game that also has native Linux support.

Is this app still being developed?
Seems it’s dead and abandoned. I really liked the app too.

Does anyone else use mouse acceleration? I love it.
Muscle memory, having the cursor / aim be an upredictable variable depending on the speed of the movement feels very wrong to me.
Floaty feeling, one of the things I try to do first with every Bethseda game is to try and force raw mouse input, otherwise it feels like I’m trying to control a mouse cursor that is sliding on ice.
I have not tried the RawAccel druver you’ve linked so can’t comment on that.

The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion - 02-10-2023
RDR2 on Steam Deck. I never got far when I originally played it on my PC a few years ago and have been itching to play it again for the last few weeks.
Started a new game and so far it’s running really good.
Work and IRL stuff does not leave me with a lot of hours to game, but I did manage to put in a good few hours.

TestFlight expiring in 9 days
Unfortunately all the signs point to this app being dead in the water it seems.
Loved using it, was the best one out there imo.

Avelon update! Custom fonts and text size, mark read on scroll, swipe to collapse threads, reply drafts, community icons and much more!
The fact that both the top and bottom bar get hidden when you start scrolling has already gotten me interested and aboard.
Thank you for creating and sharing this app with hs!

Bloodlines 2 - Official Announcement Trailer
Man the original Bloodlines, even though I never got around finishing it, was such a unique game. Deb of the night, the city, the hotel mission, twins from that club, general atmosphere… an all around great game (I am aware of quality being sub par during the later parts of the game).
BL 2 looked janky as hell, to a point I think everyone was clear it would flop. I pretty much completely forgot about that game. Just read this morning that they’ve switched devs.

Still have my Rise of Nations CD somewhere. I loved games like Civilization, don’t even remember how I stumbled upon RoN, a really great game.

What are your cycling plans for this summer?
Try to get more kms in than what I'm getting now, which has been pretty much close to 0 as the weather has been almost non stop rain for the past month and half, and what little sun we see just brings all that rain back as exhausting humidity.
Then on top of that add work and it just leaves me with so little time to ride that even thinking about it makes me sad.
My usual routes are 30-50 kms long, tarmac, gravel, maybe even a bit of off roading / basic mtbing. There's no real bike infrastructure here so I try to get out of everyone's path and ride where there's not much or no traffic at all, for everyone's sake.

r/wow is having a vote on what to do next, poll will close in 24 hours
I really hoped that one of the poll choices would be to move to community over to lemmy / kbin. Voted keep dark, with Dentahrius being my second choice.
The last two choices are too similar.

I used to watch a streamer play My Summer Car whenever I could. I love the games that are just their own thing.
