You can't argue with his logic
Da fuq? When I went to Christian school, they told me everyone who died without knowing Jesus go to hell. And I asked “how about babies?”, and they firmly told me “yes, they go to hell”

Ah, when we lose focus for a second and then we don't even known what our code was supposed to do
Just sent this to programmer friends to induce certain irony

Sounds like a great place to work. I’ve always maintained a sparse work space so this would be perfect for me lol

You’d be surprised how often I play ranked with friends who complain about the other team for “trying hard”. It should be obvious but… somehow its not ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Linux just cracked 10% desktop usage in North America, but no one's sure why
Anecdotal but I switched once Steam worked on linux. That was really the one thing holding me back before.
But I also didn’t switch right away. I assume more and more people are realizing going to Linux won’t hinder their gaming.

The Time Bomb Went Off: AI's All-You-Can-Eat Era Just Ended in Real Time
Reply in thread
Still not “free” even if self-hosted and I would think perf and accuracy would be noticeably worse.
My company started using AI in coding process a lot more now but its only because the AI responses are useful 80% of the time. If its lower than that, not worth the time to use for most tasks.

Exactly! Employers and managers typically won’t know either, unless they are micromanagers who track your every move. If this was a start up and doing more will have a big impact, then putting in more effort is justified. Med/large company? Nahhh

wefwef is so good it should be an app and not a web app
Mixed experience so far. Love the interface but for some reason the content fails to load at time even though it works on browser or Mlem. Case in point, this comment was made in Mlem because the community failed to load in wefwef. Hopefully this gets fixed.

What have you been reading this week? - July 9, 2023
Started reading Dungeon Meshi since ppl were recommending it. Damn, it’s way better than I expected. Lots of innovative ideas and the world building is topnotch. Can’t wait for the anime!
Also started reading Aishiteru Game. Pretty typical romcom, but I’m a sucker for casual romcoms, and the art is pretttty good. Only on chapter 11, hoping it remains strong

Code Quality

And as others have noted, how much time you are actually given. PMs and managers don’t know or care about code quality, they just want something to work NOW

Lot's of "Failed to load" and similar error messages with wefwef. Anyone else?
Reply in thread
It’s not. Using browser or other lemmy apps work when wefwef fails. Pretty sure it’s also due to rate limiting of the app (wefwef in this case)

Competitive is fine, just don’t play ranked. Nothing but tryhards.

[META] Can we make a weekly "what are you reading" pinned message a thing?
I’m for it. New to lemmy so not sure if there’s auto-mod to make life easier on the mods

Imo Love is War is one of the best romcoms in the last decade. Most romcoms have to constantly introduce new romantic interests to stay fresh, but Love is War kept it strong from beginning to end without ever really doing that. The anime was superb as well.
I tried Gabriel Dropout but stopped reading about chapter… 30-40 I think. I think the setting has potential but Gabriel is just too annoying to me. And I feel sorry for the devils who get shafted all the time.
