Larry Page is officially moving business out of California ahead of a proposed billionaire's tax
So he wasn't paying his share of taxes before, and he won't be paying them now. Only difference is now he won't also be a drain on the local resources. Seems like a win for californians to me.

Bystanders, cop shot as NYPD opens fire on alleged fare-beater in Brooklyn subway
Reply in thread
I mean, for discharging your firearm in an enclosed space with tons of people around? Yeah, I definitely would consider the police at fault. Should the guy with the knife have been persued once it was revealed he was armed? Sure, I can accept that. But what I do not accept is that the police seem to, despite the absurd modern toolkit at their disposal, only have two tools they actually use: their taser and their gun.
Why is it that seemingly anywhere else a knife-wielding assailant can be subdued without blood being drawn, but here it results in several people suffering life threatening injuries and one dead?

Just because a cop tells you not to do it doesn't mean it's illegal. They're known for throwing their weight around over very little.

They don't understand the actual concept of working. They think taking a call once in a while while out at a soiree counts entirely as work time.

Ra-Ra-Rasputin
Reply in thread
During the time of Tsar Nicholas II, aspirin was the new hot thing so they were giving it to anybody for anything. It was not well understood yet that it worsened hemophilia. There were several times that the Tsar's son was worsening, they cabled Rasputin, and he said something along the lines of "Don't let any of the doctor's near him and let the boy alone" and he improved. The going theory is that they were giving him aspirin and when he told them to leave him be that also stopped, removing the thing making him worse.
