Seizing/Claiming inactive magazines?
I agree 100%. It definitely isn't a big problem yet (as far as I'm aware at least), but it's only a matter of time until it becomes one.

I know, it can be a little bit of a mess at times. Especially if you've been gone for a day or two. I think there needs to be some better way of sorting through all the notifications automatically. Like different sections for replies/mentions, new threads, microblogs, etc. or something.

Yeah, the Google Pixel phones are really nice and aren't too expensive either.

Has anyone else been losing track of time in the Fediverse?
Yeah, I normally just lurk around on social media, but the Fediverse has been different for me. There's just so much excitement and energy around all of this and it's just amazing. I easily just lose hours scrolling through kbin or Mastodon, and not necessarily in a bad way. And also, most of the interactions I have on here feel way more organic than they ever did on more "mainstream" social media sites, and I think that adds to the appeal a lot as well.

Microsoft is bringing 'OCR' text recognition to Windows 11's Snipping Tool
Reply in thread
I'm not quite sure. I don't believe Microsoft has detailed exactly how it works yet. Though at the very least, it being baked-in to the Snipping Tool makes it more convenient for the average user.

Mastodon Discovery Thread
I don't know if I'd label myself as all that interesting or not, but I have been wanting to interact with more people on Mastodon more regularly.

CES 2024: Live updates from Hyundai, Samsung, Kia and Sony's big shows

Haven't had a ton of free time today to look over everything yet, but the Samsung display stuff I saw was pretty neat. Especially the transparent display. Lenovo also announced a neat 2-in-1 PC/tablet that runs both Windows and Android in their respective modes.

Same. I kind of have issues with my mind wondering when meditating (though also just in general lol). But I then tried guided meditation and it just clicked. Maybe it was having someone kind of guiding and reminding me to stay focused, but it's been amazing. And I agree, I think everyone should at least give it a try at some point.

@highhomes1994 I hadn't noticed it before, but I just checked and yeah it shows the same thing for me. I wonder what's going on with that. 🤔

Migration of Windows Insiders magazine to Mbin
Reply in thread
@Gamers_Mate Oh, 100% Everything around Kbin aside, Ernest had a ton of stuff going on in his personal life that should totally take precedent over this here.
I did see the post about applications for instance-wide moderators, which Kbin definitely needs. But I don't believe any action has been taken past the announcement yet.
But that's really interesting. I just checked and I got a notification for your last comment over on my Mbin account as well. I don't know if maybe it has something to do with the fact that my Mbin account is subscribed to this magazine as well and got looped in as well or what? I may have to look into it and see if either it's just a bug or if I'm doing something wrong lol.

Anyone on AT&T not able to pull the June update?
I don't know about Pixel devices, but normally for Duos the AT&T variants of the updates come about a week later. I think it has something to do with AT&T certifying the update for devices on their network or something.

I do not. I have the normal warranty and an extended protection plan, but that's it. I'm normally pretty careful with my devices, and I'm not a fan of the extra bulk cases add to the phone.

What do you do personally to find happiness in your everyday life?
There are a few different things I try to do each day to find little moments of happiness here and there. Anything, no matter how small, can have a bigger impact on our mental health than we may initially think. When I have the time, I like to sit down and do a little bit of coding, or do some design work for a new project I want to start (even though there's a high chance I'll move on from it soon 😅). Also getting into a good book is always nice, spending time hiking or just going to a park somewhere, or even a little DIY craft project can be a lot of fun. But when I'm a little busier even little things like music, or journaling, or even a drink I really enjoy can all go a long way in boosting my mood.

Microsoft is bringing 'OCR' text recognition to Windows 11's Snipping Tool
Reply in thread
Oh yeah, absolutely. I think there are plenty of privacy concerns that should be addressed. But I don’t know whether the OCR is processed locally or not. I know the plan for Windows 12 at least is to complete a good amount of the intelligence processing on-device, though that is reliant on specific hardware. And I don’t know how or whether these new features factor into that or not.

I think that's a great idea! If you want to create the post, I can then pin that to the magazine. Though if you'd prefer, I can make and pin it myself.
