Five years after killing a journalist in cold blood, Saudi Arabia is stronger than ever
Saudi-led Opec Plus cartel decided to cut production by 2m barrels a day – the opposite of what Biden administration officials had pleaded with the Saudis to do. After the shock of that embarrassing announcement, which threatened to raise gas prices around the US midterm elections, Biden vowed: “There’s going to be some consequences for what they’ve done.”
I thought you liked the free market?

Meeting new roommates for college and I suggested Signal and this was someone's response. I hate Gen Z.
Signal does suck though. What kind of privacy focused decision is mandatory SIM association?

Westerners learned nothing from South Africa
They regret what happened in South Africa and use it as a learning resource for how they can better hold on to their oppressive apartheid systems and institutions.

Often gulag is used for working prison, including those outside the Soviet Union. And very serious crimes in the Soviet Union would have prison time, not gulag time.

USA probably exploded an actual bomb somewhere while he said that.

What's with all the far-right rage about illegal immigration?
For the individual miffed liberals it's often just racism. That's why white illegal and legal immigrants are expats.

Those dirty brown people can't be bothered to look up from the wads of blood money for two seconds to actually care about their peers. The only country that cares about muslims is the one that purposefully killed millions of civilian muslims over the last two decades in an effort to put pressure on their enemies to surrender. Enemies that we're told don't value human life.

This article doesn't really acknowledge that for some people, tickling can be really painful. "without control or autonomy. It can start to feel bad or scary pretty quickly." -- This can just as well apply to restraining someone. Which is why I'm not sure I agree with the premise. Most things, such as restraining someone, hitting someone, hugging someone, we can sympathise with as kids and therefore approach the notion of consent with sympathy. But tickling is a very different experience for someone who can enjoy it vs someone who can't.

English town says deeply shameful tradition is worth saving actually
Reply in thread
I summarised the video and didn't do outside research. The point is that they're celebrating something that should be shameful. They explain the mechanics of how it's horrible but not that it is or that it shouldn't be celebrated. The closest they get to a condemnation is saying they've adjusted the tradition to be safer.

The country with legal slavery is acting on rumours that foreign countries aren't enforcing their own laws well enough? Feels like there's some ulterior motif, hard to put my finger on what though.

He's at the bottom end of 'knows just enough to be dangerous', and people make fun of people in that range. The vast majority of gamers and Windows users fall well outside that narrow band. The average Windows user who is scared of the terminal wouldn't ignore several warnings and type in confirmation phrases. They wouldn't have even gotten to that point because to get there you need to copy/paste things from a website without understanding what it does.

is there a way to mute instances?
These sites are probably the most propagandised platforms that I ever see on the internet.
Have you been to Reddit? I'd be curious to see the demographics breakdown of .world. I have a very strong feeling it's almost entirely used in the USA and Klanada, and that pretty much every other large instance has a better claim to including .world in the URL.
