As an engineer:

1. Receive or identify a problem.
2. Design a solution that solves or mitigated the problem.
3. Usually pay someone to make a prototype or do it ourselves
4. Test the prototype and see if it solves the problem. If no, go back to #2 until a workable solution is found
5. Get someone else to build the final thing.
6. Make sure thing works. Ship it.

This is a recursive and iterative process. Meaning you will find problems inside your solutions and need to fix them.

They are not joking, and some cars cannot adjust the angle or lateral position of the headrest without replacement. There are cars (like 2009 Lincoln MKZs, cough) that have headrests and seats that look and feel exactly like the image.

I feel your pain man. Our university of 40k people did the same thing “from on high” and we ran into the same problems in our lab. We only had 4 million files to move into a Teams share. The learning curve for quadlets is quite harsh in my opinion. I started with podman compose 3 years ago for my homelab, because it allowed user containers.

I tried to migrate to quadlets unsuccessfully, several times over the years. it was only recently that my self-hosted Qwen was capable enough to figure out where I was messing up and automate the process a bit.

I probably wasn’t sufficiently motivated. It felt like podman compose is basically docker compose, but quadlets are a quite a bit different in form and function, so I was never able to grok them:

Sounds like they could have been lazy and simply disabled/blocked your dns lookups, or stopped providing your route to 0.0.0.0/0. VPN provides new dns provider and a route to the internet at large, and you’re back in business.

It also massively reduces contact with the road.

Aside from being massive explosive risk on rupture that would badly damage your car body, it also reduces traction for braking and acceleration. Not a good idea for regular driving unless you are an actual professional.
