World timezones proposal
Reply in thread
As much as timezones are a pain (I'm a programmer who recently finished working on an international calendar for an app), I don't think getting rid of timezones is a great idea. https://qntm.org/abolish
I think a much better goal would be getting rid of daylight savings. THAT causes so much headache for little reason nowadays

Bandcamp bans purely AI-generated music from its platform
Reply in thread
The actual wording is "Music and audio that is generated wholly or in substantial part by AI is not permitted on Bandcamp."
So no, 99% AI is also not allowed

What's a food you love, that isn't worth making from scratch?
Gyoza/potstickers/dumplings
I will inhale plates of em and the time it takes to wrap em made me both appreciate the food more and appreciate the premade ones so much more

You are beautiful, you just need someone who truly values you

Even though I agree that external validation shouldn't be relied on, and your own opinion of yourself is the most important, that's still really hard to do when you don't like how you look.
A different comic that connected to me a little more was this one:
Where just because I don't like the way I look, doesn't mean I'm ugly. Someone else may like just as I am, so the important thing for me is to be healthy and happy with myself, even if I don't like how I look
... I'm realizing I'm mostly just rewording what you said, but I wanted to share the comic in case it helps someone else see another perspective :D

Oh look, another Electron app. How original…

It's the minimum effort that translates to minimum time that translates to minimum cost for the business. Why hire another developer for a mobile app (or another platform) when you could just have the same web dev write it. Or without hiring another dev, why have the same dev need to build up tooling in another language when you can just reuse from the existing platform

You should definitely check out this 20 page short comic: https://imgur.com/gallery/wolverines-job-isnt-always-easy-to-do-I71V6
It's basically that, and Wolverine goes in because his regeneration keeps him alive
(Edit: From Marvel's Ultimate X-Men Vol. 1 #41)

Dawarich has support for this. Be aware it is under very active development and has semi-frequent breaking changes though (No data loss, just manual steps to upgrade).
For example, here's my recent trip to Austin for the Counter-Strike Major:
And with regular routing:
It technically works offline because you can record your location and load it afterwards, but I use it by ingesting my location that is tracked by Home Assistant

What app/program do you wish existed and what does it do that you've not found elsewhere?

Immich lets you do this
https://immich.app/docs/features/searching/
For example here's me searching for "forest". But it also supports looking for people (even multiple people in the same image), places, dates, or combinations of all of them. It'll also look for text in images. The link has more examples
All hosted and processed on my local computer, and connected to the mobile app

I'm not a big comic fan (I've only read small snippits like this), but this is from the "ultimates" storyline, which to my understanding is an alternate universe where things are... much bleaker than normal Marvel
