3 Palestinians arrested in Italy on terrorist plot suspicion - I24NEWS

Hi, coupple of things to note:

First: Italian counter terrorist is one of the best in the world because at some point we had terrorist attacks from the inside, also, our mafia/ndrangheta/camorra have deep root in the population and in the government.

Second: il fatto quotidiano is quite a bad source for impartial information very often. I'd say to compare the same articles with other sources.

Bonus: I don't want to defend the government (it's quite bad) or the police (could always be better).

The thing that preoccupy me the most is how much my privacy was invaded to discover this terrorists.

Italy now recognizes the crime of femicide and punishes it with life in prison

Reply in thread

Hi, saying "Italy has a major issue with domestic violence" it's misleading. Compared to what? To Europe? (we are on the lower end of feminicides, and this law try to target this issue). More in general, Italy it's a very safe place and homicides are lower than the average of europe.

Feminicides: https://www.europeandatajournalism.eu/cp_data_news/femicide-remains-all-too-common-in-italy-and-europe/

General intentional homicide: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate

To further expand: Is it an issue? YES, is it even slightly going towards a resolution with this new law? NOPE. It's just the next new big title from "Governo Meloni", a right wing party that is in charge, will get re-elected but is acting like it's on the opposition.

This is not like the “White lives matter” responses to the BLM movement. If they wanted to increase the "hate crime" or "gender crime" homicides penalties, they could have said something like "to address the feminicides we will be increasing all the hate/gender homicides penalties". But this government hate gays and trans, just love a christian traditional family and slogans (which none of our representatives was able to mantain btw).

Understanding very early the toxicity of some social networks

Not wanting to be a number in a database for marketing targeting

Not wanting to be found by anyone online by just typing my name (privacy and security)

Being very selective with who is a friend and who is not and sharing with them only what I want (sending them a picture or a meme without my grandma or my boss or my neighbor knowing)

The current government , as many government, has only two objective: stay on power, get re elected. Its a mix of populist and racists. They did nothing on the main points of their campaign but there is no real effective opposition. They put CBD back to illegal for example, while it was regulated and sold normally. But for average boomer this become an effective war on drugs.

I did it already many years ago. You dont have to purposely loose all your old accesses. You can secure them and abandon them.

It happened once in 10y that I had to go back to recover 1 email from my google account but it was for something stupid that I could have avoided.

The hard part could be WhatsApp in Europe. I abandoned it the day after it was bought by facebook
