I know a couple life-long Republicans I sometimes briefly talk about politics with (one family, one acquaintance). Neither of them like Trump, but like the idea around Project 2025. One is an evangelical Christian, the other is a Catholic.

The Catholic strongly believes government should be run like a business, and the president should be like a CEO, so he should be able to fire everyone and replace them, if needed, with workers that will execute his plans. He's also an anti-abortion, and tough-on-crime/immigration type. However, he strongly disapproves of Trump seemingly being pro-Russian now, Trump and his cabinet's personal lives (he's always strangely fixated on people's personal lives, in a moral sense, for some reason), the take-over of the FBI and CIA, and the tariffs hurting his stock portfolio.

The evangelical Christian just doesn't like Trump as a person, and doesn't like Russia. He's a just-world-hypothesis, small government, women are subservient, pro-business type; but also low/lower-middle-class, and has needed, and will need the social services he opposes. I guess his opinions are pretty similar to the Catholic's, just a little more extreme on the social side, and supports policies that have always hurt him. I mean, Republican policies hurt the (fairly wealthy) Catholic too, but at least they get to say their taxes are lower and there's less red-tape.

Liberal three-percenter lore?

I mean, I do think non-violent disobedience can be effective, but the state usually makes it violent. State sanctioned protests where most obey most of the rules isn't disobedience. Is a good start though, and I hope things progress (in a good way).

He wants to use tariffs (which act like a flat-tax) to lower income tax on the rich. There's speculation he's also doing something like the "Mar-a-Lago Accord," which involves devaluing the dollar (causing inflation). If wages don't rise with the inflation (which they don't want), US labor will be more competitive, so people can work in factory jobs with pay analogous to current Chinese factory workers.

Trump and Bukele are ideologically alike. Bukele wants more funding for his prison, which the US is providing. The prison is basically a black-site with journalists given very limited and controlled access. For all I know, it could be a deathcamp; they do use forced labor, so it is at least a slave camp. Also, they never release anyone from there, which further raises the suspicion of it being a death camp.

If you're implying you want to spend as much time away from your family as possible, you could just get a divorce. Wouldn't have to sell all your life to shareholders then.

Kinda depressing that all of big-tech seems to have given up "innovating" (finding applications for publicly-funded research), and have become rent-seeking dinosaurs.

If I understand correctly this CR legalizes DOGE and everything it has and wants to do in the future. Shutting government down completely is preferable, IMO. The federal employee unions agree.

It disenfranchises many voters. I know several people who don't have valid IDs. I was almost unable to to vote last November because my ID expired, and all my local DMVs were booked for many months. Had to set an appointment 3 months in the future at a DMV 50 miles away from me to get an ID just before the election.

They work for the shareholders, not the customers. For most publicly traded companies, the stock is completely detached from fundamentals, so they just do whatever the large investors like (often just hype the new hottest thing; such as marketplaces or "increasing efficiency" with layoffs), regardless if its good for the "real" business or not.

I think most of these protests were properly permitted (I know my local one was). Protestors in residential areas would likely get arrested for stuff like disturbing the peace, even if they stayed on public property such as roads. They'd probably try to charge the organizers for something too, which is probably why they aren't being organized. But, I agree there should be protests at these people's homes regardless.

You still pay taxes in those states, just not income. Most people will pay more taxes in those states compared to places like California (not the rich, of course). Texas chose a system of sales taxes (state and local), which act like flat-taxes, which put more burden on lower income people.

I recently went back to pirating and transferring music to my phone like it was an iPod, lol. VLC is a good player (and works with Android Auto), and Strawberry is good on Linux for listening and library management. The SoulSeek network has a lot of hard to find stuff in flac (I use the Nicotine+ client).

A lot of Rep voters approve of Project 2025. His approval isn't that low. Approval of certain policies, like tarriffs are low, but overall approval isn't. What's scary is his most evil policies (the immigration policies) have some of the highest approval.

Available jobs are below the worse time during COVID, and I'm pretty sure the number of CS grads has greatly increased (but couldn't find a good chart).

If you're talking about organized resistance, the police can be greatly outnumbered. Mostly unarmed people took over a precinct during BLM protests.

If talking about defending yourself in your home, I'd rather die quickly at home than at a prison that tortures people. Hell, I'd rather die than spend 20+ years in a regular US prison.
