Looking for ICQ people that were using TP
One of the oldest social platforms in the world, was ICQ and it was a place where toki pona was used. I am trying to find back the actual people who used it over there.
Toki Pona Art Competition 2026: time to vote!
I’m still a beginner, so I’m discovering things as I go, but it seems there’s an annual art contest in Toki Pona. This year’s entries were released yesterday, and you can read them here: https://utala.pona.la/index_en
After reading some of them (you don’t need to read all of them) you can vote here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScxhuP7rcMOAwdUUSlasnk91pGG_-cY3-CTonRvLnuzhrxqZA/viewform
I’ll try to read a few of them, I hope my level is good enough!

I made a mapping from all the possible toki pona syllables into musical chords: toki pi kalama musi
I made a mapping from all the possible toki pona syllables into musical chords. The bottom note of each chord is based on the starting consonant (or lack thereof) of the syllable, and the kinds of intervals between notes in the chord are based on the vowel and ending nasal, if there is one. The exact qualities of the intervals are adjusted depending on the bottom note to dial down some of the wildest chromaticism, but... there's still some wild chromaticism in here
The rhythm and the order of the words is taken from the rap sections of the tokirap by jan Misali, also known as nimi ale lon toki pona: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_w0-VUMh2o
I was inspired to make this mapping from syllables to chords by a book: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. They're gonna make a movie of it in like less than a year. One of the characters speaks using musical chords, and I wanted to hear some version of what that might sound like. Maybe even test myself to see if I could understand someone speaking in these chords eventually. But I'm getting ahead of myself

I made myself a wallpaper to force myself to study toki pona. Maybe someone else will like it too.

This resource pack is based on jan Poman's. I can't find the original link anymore, but the name was written in the resource pack itself. When I found it, it was already outdated, so I've been adding all the new lines, as well as lines from a few fabric mods. I've finally caught up with the official translation, so I'm ready to share it online.
It can be downloaded here: https://github.com/janLolen/musi-Manka/releases/
You can also clone this repository to get all the edits as soon as I commit them. I've included a batch file that copies the files to the default Windows resource pack folder.
It uses UCSUR, but cartouches aren't supported, so you need to use square brackets instead, for now at least.
Since it requires no additional effort, other than making a low resolution font, a sitelen telo version is also available.
Most of the work was done by jan Poman and by the official translators. jan Poman's resource pack is outdated so I've been converting the new lines and reverting some name changes (monsuta pakala instead of monsuta Creeper) caused by a rule that requires all translations to keep the trademarked names unchanged. Most mods' translations are original.
I've also started to diverge from both, as there are some translations I don't agree with. So monsuta pakala, if it's not in a noun phrase with other pis, becomes monsuta pi pakala leko, color names are now based on their in-game recipes, and effect names (but not potion names) are more descriptive. There are also some stylistic choices, such as names (Mojang, Realms, Lena Raine) not being tokiponized.
There are still some inconsistencies. Some are carried over from the previous translations, and some are new. But most of the lines you'll encounter in survival mode are correct.
The following mods are completely translated:
- Chat heads
- Cloth config 2
- Configured
- Mod menu
- Nemo's Inventory Sorting
- Yet Another Config Lib V3
The following mods are partially translated:
- Jade
- Sodium
- Visuality
- Xaero's minimap and world map
Also, some lines in the official translation were actually in Dutch for some reason. I translated them into toki pona.
