Homemade pizza is the best pizza
Ever since I bought a stand mixer I've been a dough making maniac. This is by far the best pizza I've made yet. I even made the sauce from fresh tomatoes. Pan pizza is my favorite and this beats all the local pizza places for under $5 a pie.
Toppings: Pepperoni, jalapeno, mushroom, red onion, and bacon.
Pizza night again!
Mozzarella, Romano, pineapple, jalapeños, pepperoni, sourdough crust.
Ever had artichoke & avocado? Was I pranked?
I was playing Cyberpunk yesterday, and best girl Judy asked me what I liked on my pizza. I passed a speech check (I think on Body/Strength) to say "A&A. Artichoke & Avocados." and some other text I forget.
Now I'm wondering if such a pizza exists, and would it be any good? And what else would go good on it?
I have had artichokes on pizza before. They work. I feel like avocado wouldn't, though. Like it would burn up or dry out or something.
Granted, it's Cyberpunk. They get their pizza from a place called Buck A Slice and everything is crappy in their world. And yet, that pizza sounds good. AND I had to pass a speech check to say it.
The game was made by the Polish so maybe that has something to do with it? The game is set in Southern California but it doesn't feel quite right. It's also not their (CD Projekt Red) world, it comes from the board/tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2013 which came out in the 1980s. Which was made by an American. So I don't think that matters.
Anyway: would you try this pizza?
First stuffed crust
I had some one ask for a stuffed crust. I normally wouldn't approve , but they brought their own cheese to have me make it for them.
My first pizza in 6 months
I'd fallen into the habit of quick-and-easy cooking (or eating out) since my last major depressive episode. Today I felt inspired to make some pizza from scratch. Cooking does wonders for the soul.
Pepperoni Pizza!
After my last pizza, I had to make more! This time I made two smaller pizzas, one with pepperoni and mushroom and this one with just pepperoni. Very tasty! I also found out my oven goes to at least 500F which is cool.
well, shit.
Firing up the v1.0.0 backyard pizza oven for the first time, I guess I went too hot too fast. Fortunately I can scavenge another rock from work and try again.
Accidental Thin Crust
While mixing my dough tonight I forgot to add the yeast. I noticed after it “rose” for an hour. I went ahead and added the yeast, but it did not rise during baking. It was still good though.
Detroit Style Pan Pizza
This is a recipe from the website seriouseats.com. It's really amazing. The crispy cheese edge is the best.
Thoughts about usage of Sugar?
I add sugar to the warm water in which i dissolve the (dry) yeast. It seems to give it a little "jump start". I read somewhere that yeast loves that stuff. Is that a mistake or valid?
Pizza Night Goodies
Made in my conventional oven, 550F for 11 minutes, using a pizza stone. Pineapple, jalapenos, pepperoni, and some pineapple/jalapeño hot honey for toppings. Recipe for the dough.
