2024/02/07 Update Patch v0.1.4.1

Steam version v0.1.4.1 has been released.

Patch Notes:

===

▼Major Fixes ・Fixed an issue where the game would always crash and save data would be corrupted when the total number of Pals captured by the guild reached approximately 7000. ・In the previous patch, save data that had already been in this state (for servers, the server's world data) remained in a broken state that made it impossible to load, but after applying this patch it will be resolved and will load properly.

・Fixed an issue where some weapons equipped by other players would disappear when a player used a grenade in multiplayer.

・Fixed an issue where, although the displayed capture probability increased when the capture power was strengthened with Lifmunk Effigies, the capture probability did not actually increase at all due to an internal processing bug.

▼Base related ・Fixed an issue where if a Pal that was manually assigned to a breeding farm went to sleep, it would not wake up forever. ・Fixed an issue where no wood would drop when Pal at the base felled a tree.

▼Others ・Implemented countermeasures against some cheats and exploits.

===

We will continue development placing top priority on fixing major problems and issues. Thank you for your continued support of Palworld.

[Palworld]Katress + Wixen is the only breeding combo in Palworld where parent gender changes the result

I've been rebuilding the dataset behind a breeding calculator I maintain (disclosure: it's mine, link at the bottom, and the data is free to download), and I hit a pair that broke my code. Sharing because I think most tools have the same bug.

Katress + Wixen produces two different Pals depending on gender:

Female Katress + male Wixen → Katress Ignis Male Katress + female Wixen → Wixen Noct Every other special combo in the game is an unordered pair — the two parents can be either gender and you get one fixed result. This is the only exception. I checked the other ten variant Pals (Jormuntide Ignis, Faleris Aqua, Frostallion Noct, Blazehowl Noct, Leezpunk Ignis, Pyrin Noct, Lyleen Noct, Gobfin Ignis, Suzaku Aqua, Elphidran Aqua) and none of them care about gender.

Why it matters: breeding datasets store combos as {parent_a, parent_b, child} with no gender field. So this pair appears twice with the same two parents and two different children. Any code that keys on the sorted pair keeps whichever row it read last and silently throws the other away. On my site that made Wixen Noct look completely unobtainable by breeding. If your calculator tells you one of these two can't be bred, that's why.

Two more things I found while checking:

Panthalus and Astralym can't breed at all. The game files contain Panthalus + Panthalus and Astralym + Astralym rows, so datamined datasets include them and some tools present them as breeding true. In game, Panthalus is too large to use any base facility including the Breeding Farm, and Astralym is the only Pal a player can't obtain at all — it's the Sealed Sanctum tower boss and it's flagged uncapturable. I've seen at least one popular calculator tell people to "catch your first Panthalus in the wild", which is wrong twice over: no wild spawn, and it's the Echoing Flute encounter on the Deserted Islet.

A self-pair row doesn't mean a Pal is unbreedable — this one was my own bug. X + X → X marks a Pal that breeds true, so I treated every Pal carrying that row as catch-only. But Relaxaurus Lux and Mossanda Lux carry it alongside a real combo (Relaxaurus + Sparkit, Mossanda + Grizzbolt). I was serving a "you can't breed this" page to two Pals that breed fine. It's 26 truly catch-only Pals, not 28.

Sources I checked against: palworld.wiki.gg, game8, paldb.cc, palworld.gg.

I've put the corrected dataset up as free JSON and CSV with no key and no rate limit — if you're building anything, take it: www.palworldonline.net/data

If you think I've got any of this wrong, say so. Game updates move these tables and I'd rather be corrected than confidently stale.

Couple of breeding tricks that saved my sanity (+ a handy tool)

I’ve been neck‑deep in Palworld breeding the past few nights and figured I’d jot down the things that finally stopped me from tearing my hair out.

First, don’t start by mashing random parents together. Decide what ability or work trait you actually want, then work backwards. Sounds obvious, but I wasted way too many eggs before realising a bit of reverse planning cuts the trial‑and‑error in half.

Second, neighbouring elements are your friend. Fire → Electric → Ice chains move traits along way faster than jumping across the wheel. My “aha” moment was using an Electric intermediate instead of trying to brute‑force Fire straight into Ice—shaved a whole generation off the plan.

Third—and this is the bit that really changed the game—I’ve been sanity‑checking every idea with a tiny web toy someone put online: palworldbreedingcalculator ․org. Pop in the pal you want, it spits out every parent pair plus the shortest breeding path. No downloads, just a quick browser thing. It basically replaced the messy spreadsheet I was keeping.

Anyway, hope this helps someone else avoid the endless trial runs. If you’ve got other shortcuts, holler below—I’m still chasing the perfect worker pal. Good luck hatching!

[Help] Paladius & Necromus no longer spawning?

I decided to set up a base near where Paladius and Necromus roam so I didn't need to travel so far from the nearest warp point. I knew it was the right spot because both were walking by as I put the palbox down.

However, now they have yet to appear in the northeast region of that island at all for several in-game days.

Did placing the base near their area actually screw up their spawning/pathing? Or is there something else I should check?

When I placed a base near Jetragon, I didn't run into any issues with that pal not spawning at all.

Palworld 2.0.6 Update: known bugs and issues

Figured it would be a good idea to collect known issues in one place:

  1. Dedicated servers with mods to enable more than 15 pals per base can have pals 16+ assigned to a base deleted Source
  • For the above, I would have dedicated servers with such mods hold off on 1.5.1 until players get a chance to put all their base pals back in their palbox and/or update their worldoptions.sav file with the correct max pals: Website to create a custom worldoption.sav Local run version or better yet set the max number of workers in PalWorldSettings.ini then use this tool to create a new worldoptions.sav file.
  • Servers that are using a custom WorldOption.sav to increase the Base worker limit may be spared from this issue.
  • "Deleted" pals may be in spheres above the vicinity of the Palbox.
  1. Pre patch incubators will not work (will only accept/store small pal souls)
  • Destroying and rebuilding the incubator seems to fix this.
  1. The Pal Info mod (and likely any mod that shows Pal info) conflicts with 2.0.6 and as such should be disabled until the mod author can update the mod for 2.0.6
  2. Players with UE4SS installed get a blank screen when trying to start the game and log in.
  • Go to Palworld/Binaries/Win64/Mods/ edit mods.txt to change BPModLoaderMod from 1 to 0.
  • Note, UE4SS Blueprint type mods will not work with the fix above but at least you'll be able to log into the game Credit
  1. Dedicated servers may fail to launch
  • The server executables have new names.
  • Make sure your scripts point to the new server names (old ones had -test at the end, new ones are -release I believe)
  • If you're using any firewall rules that point to a specific name for the dedicated server process, it'll need to be updated to the new binary name.
