I want minimum latency as I play competitive games and am very sensitive to it. Hyprland has hdr support which is a must for me and on paper should support vrr and tearing aswell. With VRR I had occasional issues but something like tearing was impossible to get working for some reason, kde plasma should do both well but I have gotten used to tiling window managers and don't really want to give that up.

So id like to know about your setup if you have gotten something like tearing to work or other recommendations.

Inspired by the GNOME RSS Shell Extension, i made a RSS reader as a Waybar custom module + HTML view — for Hyprland / Wayland compositors.

Because i think a long list directly in the shell is not so smart, my app creates regularly a index.html from a given list of RSS/Atom feeds.

How it works

• Waybar module: Shows RSS icon with article count for a configurable time window.

• Left click: Opens index.html with all articles from the last N hours, grouped by feed.

• Right click: Forces immediate refresh + HTML regeneration.

• systemd timer: Regenerates the HTML page every hour automatically.

I recently set up hyprland for the first time and I'm really enjoying it, however I noticed that the Steam client and games looked a little pixelated. Not blurry, just like, sharp pixels. Checking in the graphical settings of a game showed it was running at 720p. My screen is 1080p so this is a little odd. I'm running Arch on a Fujitsu Lifebook U749. Anyone know what's up?

Got annoyed by forgetting to run hyprpm update after each update of Hyprland on Arch so I made a quick pacman hook to automatically do it, just place (or symlink) it in /etc/pacman.d/hooks and make sure the file name ends in .hook:

anyone know of a way to at least get a static frame of my live wallpaper when running hyprshutdown?

i have a live wallpaper that runs via swww.

while the hyprshutdown command sloves some of my issues, it creates another one: my wallpaper resets to the default hyprland wallpaper due to hyprshutdown killing the swww-daemon (which to be fair does not really affect my system, its just slightly annoying)

i tried a script that first runs hyprpaper with a static frame of my wallpaper before running hyprshutdown as i heard that hyprpaper does not have that issue, but unfortunately that script does not execute hyprshutdown...

Edit: I want a graphical window switcher that's fully keyboard controlled, so I can see the windows before switching them.

The screenshot is from hyprland-easymotion which only shows labels for visible windows. I want a switcher that allows for both switching to windows or the same, or from any app, using just the keyboard and no mouse.

Ideally I could go to a window without pressing tab or another key a bunch of times, perhaps select any window (visible or not) with a letter like easymotion.

Not just screenshots like hyprshot, but also recording videos of part of the screen. I used to use spectacle but there's no way without kwin.

i've seen some really stunning hyprland setups and i'd love to see more, does anyone know where to find examples or inspiration?

the sidebar has a link to the "Official Ricing Field", but the link is dead and hyprland's new homepage only has the hall of fame. this seems like a really great use case for the fediverse and i'd love to see this (or another) community become the unofficial hub - so as a separate question does anyone know if @[email protected] (the only mod here) is still active?

Hi all. I just wrote a small alternative to cliphist in Rust. Has a couple of additional features over cliphist while still trying to keep the same spirit of simplicity.

If you are on a Wayland compositor like Hyprland or Sway and like simple clipboard history managers, consider checking it out. Hopefully it can be helpful to others too. I am also happy to accept any feedback.

I currently have two monitors with the same specs, but I usually use the one on the left for playing and the one on the right for checking guides. I don't always use the right-hand monitor; sometimes it just sits there switched on, but I don't use it.

Is there a way to lock or dim my secondary screen when it's not in use, so that I don't have to turn it off manually? Ideally, if my cursor is focused on the left monitor and the right monitor hasn't received any input for a while, it would turn off or display an image.

I've seen the post about Hyprland Premium go a bit viral and people don't seem to understand fully what we're doing.

There is a reason no pages link to the account. subdomain, because it's a work in progress, after all. That's why wording is a bit lacking, that's why registrations are closed.

Anyways, here are some key takeaways:

Yes, it's real

It's the official website. I did not get hacked.

Hyprland is not going closed source

It says that in the first sentence on the page. No paid features, beta branches, etc. We continue development as always.

Why money

I need something to eat too. Once I end university, if I can't make this my full-time job, I will have to severely decrease my contributions in favor of a real job. If this gets us somewhere, it will be only with benefits to you, the users. If I get enough money to hire another guy to help me work on Hyprland full time, I will.

Forums:

Already on forum.hypr.land. To log in, you need a Hyprland Account, that's why we haven't "fully" launched them yet.

"Premium" Forums:

Additional categories on the same forum for premium subscribers - these include premium support (where you get answers from me instead of the community at large), Q&A with me, and some banter chats.

Desktop Experience:

Free desktop experience: Dotfiles provided by us, with one-click installs and updates.

Premium desktop experience: Same as above, but with more customization options. (dotfile customizations, e.g. "bar on what side", "what button where", etc, not Hyprland features)

"Further premium services":

A general catch-all clause if any premium services come out in the future, they will most likely just be a part of the premium subscription. This might be dotfile sync, or other ideas. We don't know yet, that's why we didn't say.

I've been on the fence since I've been trying Hyprland. What I want out of a window manager / DE is lots of window customization settings (borders, animations, etc.), & having configuration inside one file or one directory with hot-reloading (I'm switching from KDE since its config files all over the place). Hyprland is very popular among WM users with a large ecosystem, though I prefer stacking rather than tiling. I can make it work with some window rules, and shell scripts using hyprctl & jq.

I'm wondering how many little things I will need to fix / figure out. For instance, when I open the firefox bookmarks library with CTRL SHIFT O. When that window is open but not focused, and not on top, if I press CTRL SHIFT O again on a DE it comes back to the top, but not on Hyprland. I could probably find a fix for that?

I might be answering my own question but I really want to hear thoughts.

I want some windows to auto start at the exact same spot and size each time, however the “size” and “move” window rules seem to do nothing, and tbh the wiki ain't really making things more clear.

The order in which the applications start seems to still determine how the windows tile.

The setup I want is Spotify center, and below 2 kitty terminals, one with btop one with cava, however none of the window rules seem to affect position.

Here is my current config, I already tried various different values for the “move” rule, but no value changed the order of windows
i also tried it with windowrulev2 but that didnt change anything either
