So when do we get Jigsaw Takes Manhattan, or Jig in the Hood?

There have also been eight subsequent Friday 13th-related movies since its "Final Chapter" :-)

I just watched all the "Final Destination" movies and the 4th one is called "The Final Destination". Then the went on to make a 5th, and a 6th is in production.

The next one should always be “the search for more money”.

We just re-watched Spaceballs last night and I still laughed and laughed. There's a scene I don't remember seeing before where Dark Helmet barks an order and a Spaceball replies, "Jawohl, mein Helmet!" And Rick Moranis gives him this look in such a perfectly-timed way that I lost it. Even with the helmet down it worked.

I can't wait for the 16th mainline installment of Final Fantasy to be released on PC.

8

Final Fantasy XVI - Part2, Disc B; Universe alpha, Chronicles of that emo kid (not the one you though of, the other one)

6

To be fair, they do kind of start over with most of them. It's basically a franchise that reboots with every iteration!

It's their first number containing different digits that's the same either way up

(Edited to be more correct)

Still not seeing it, lol. I guess you mean it would be their 69, except that you need one to be the upside down version of the other...? I don't know. Someone should write a research paper on this. :D

69 is (our) 69 because the whole thing is the same when you rotate it 180°

As is XIX

:)

I thought it was because the 6 is a dude with his dick out, and 9 is a girl with her tits out, or the 9 is another dude flipped around…

7

Huh, I thought it was because that’s where the head is.

5

Yes it is! One person one way, one person the other. From the 180 perspective, the same.

The participants are thus mutually inverted like the numerals 6 and 9 in the number 69

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/69_(sex_position)

Unless you're meaning it specifically has to be 2 digits, and therefore XIX doesn't qualify? If so that's fair (it was just the closest analogue I could think of. Maybe II would indeed be better).

This is true.

If it’s in a list with other films with years first, you wouldn’t be about to visually scan by letter, though. Two “Saw” films could be separated by hundreds of others in between.

29
reddthat.com

That looks solid.

Honestly, if you could just put metadata tags on files and if file search on non-Mac machines didn’t take ages, it wouldn’t even matter.

It's in alphabetical order and IX is definitely there. Unless I'm missing some other joke.

Fun fact: In France, Saw VI and Saw VII skipped the numbers because Saw 6 is pronounced like saucisse (sausage) and Saw 7 is pronounced like someone having a lisp saying chaussette (sock)

I thought maybe translating "saw" is better, but nah, "La scicisse" et "la sciecette" is pretty cursed too

"six" in english translates to "six" in french

i don't know what to do with this information

15

that just sounds like saying "six" with a french accent

im not sure i believe you

I would regularily joke with my friend about going to eat some saw V sequels

Reminder that VIIII is a valid way to write 9 in Roman numerals.

16

There is historical precedent that the Romans used XIIX for 18, I guess VIV should be fine for 9.

Even better, you can do it by editing the "sort title" so even in the library they show up in the order you prefer. So in this case I'd change them to be "Saw 01" through "Saw 10" and I won't have to mess with a different view for those circumstances. I do need to go back through and edit a handful more of my movies because I've slacked off lately.

9

Yeah it's not the end-all-be-all solution for sure, but it helps for a large majority of movie series. I also use Plex Meta Manager to automatically create collections nightly for series, actors, genres, and even a handful of playlists.

Edit: and to add onto your example of Bond, yeah I just make that a playlist because it'd be way too confusing for me and most people who watching from my server.

1

Another use for 'sort title' is for making collections for things like actors, directors, decades, genres, etc and then sticking them at the top of the library by appending special characters or numbers to the beginning of the sort title, like '#001 Steven Spielberg Collection's

Star Wars and Indiana Jones also have this issue with inconsistent titles, which make the default sorting annoying.

1
lemmy.world

I always liked to use year instead of number. That way it sorts the same and if there end up being more than 9 I don’t have to go back and rename it to 09.

Now I use Jellyfin with the auto collection plugin. It does a great job of grouping everything correctly.

2

I just always do it out of habit when I number movies because of the rare possibility of a series going into double digits. Obviously I wouldn't need to ever worry about it with LOTR or anything that is definitely over, but regardless it's not painful to go back and edit.

Edit: also I've considered switching to Jellyfin myself, but I've had a Plex Lifetime membership since line 2014 and as annoying as they sometimes are about emailing me, I do like the polish it has.

How TF is it the final chapter then they keep going. I stopped after 2 with the damn pit of needles.

6

It's depending if you put your Saw VI in your Saw VII.

I wonder if you could make a context aware sorting system for files. Like if there are a handful of files all similarly named, it could check for sequential numbers and roman numerals and spelled out numbers and just sort them that way.

7

You can but you'll need either a plugin for your file browser or a custom one

1

A cool film that used its low budget creatively has been turned into a crappy franchise on par with Halloween and Friday13th. Shame.

6

You know what they say, "I before V, except after C". (Or something like that.)

5

I still remember when Windows File Explorer orders 10 before 2 (I still didn't verify if it still does that and I don't feel like it)
