Looks like a first-gen 1979 Acty van . It looks cute because it is cute. It was designed to Kei specs to keep it under certain dimensions and engine size.

It came with a 545 cc 2-cylinder SOHC water-cooled engine which produced 28 PS (20.6 kW; 27.6 hp) at 5500 rpm and 4.2 kg⋅m (41 N⋅m; 30 lb⋅ft) of torque at 4000 rpm. Kei trucks/vans often come with diesel engines but I didn't see any info in my quick search.

Kei trucks are very popular with American farmers for their utility even though they must be over 25 years old to import Japan. Farmers still can't find a small diesel truck with 4WD, fold down sides, and low bed height.

The reason they can't ind that vehicle is the Chicken Tax .
