Can't take criticism then he shouldn't be in politics

I only say this to continue your point in sarcasm But yah they should’ve let him dig his own grave deeper. Honestly if your being called out for things liked by constituents and can’t take a verbal assault of words that penetrates your ego that u result to violence or intimidation especially if you holding leadership roles.. it’s utter disgraceful and disappointing

Yeah... I don't care what the guy in the audience said. If it was a threat or dangerous then the freaking mayor should call the baluff/police chief/sheriff who is going to be sitting in that room and let them deal with it.

If it's not an arrestable offense or something that would allow the mayor to eject the man from the meeting, he needs to act like a politician and ignore it in the moment. Threatening a member of the public during a city council meeting? He should be resigned immediately. He cannot continue to have the chance to wield the power of the office against a member of the public.

I’m curious why you feel Nj is a shitty state

Just left NJ, gonna go with terrible schools, lacking or decrepit infrastructure, and the best things in the state are either its proximity to other places or far too expensive to be able to be enjoyed.

Which I guess can be said about most places.

Also the diners have largely lost the plot and are a shell of their former greatness

2

NJ ranks consistently on the top 5 of education and they’re currently 12th for infrastructure. It definitely is expensive and I do agree the diners are on the decline though. Where’d you end up?

I live in NYC and work in NJ. It's sucks. The area near NY is so packed with people it's crazy. Just as dense as NY, but nothing to offer except insane traffic on roads never designed to handle that many people. Think crazy suburban sprawl but just fucking PACKED with people. I have also worked with the shittiest people ever. I'm an electrical engineer, the people I work on NJ are the laziest I've ever seen in the industry.

It really is just a sad place.

2

For a place with such ridiculous amounts of suburban sprawl and thus utter car dependency (a phenomenon which I am given to understand a significant cross section of Lemmings have views about), you'd think that wouldn't result in New Jersey also being the nation's leading exporter in inept and belligerent drivers. But they handily retain the number one spot on that list and have done for decades.

My theory is that New Jersey is unintentionally specifically structured to foster incompetence in its drivers. Forbidding motorists from pumping their own gasoline as well as turning left results in them failing to develop several basic yet critical skills required to exist on the roads of civilized nations. This results in New Jersey drivers traveling to other states and routinely becoming baffled by complex traffic concepts such as four way intersections, parking lots, traffic lights with turn arrows, bollards, etc. to such a degree that they will routinely stop dead in the middle of the road and refuse to move until they no longer have right of way, at which juncture they will finally timidly creep out directly into oncoming traffic. This exists in a curious counterpoint to New Jersey native's innately held conviction that it is their god given right to thunder down the middle lane of the turnpike at 100+ MPH while flashing their high beams at everyone in front and throwing half empty water bottles at anyone they have decided is "in their way."

Given that the infestation of New Jersey drivers has taken firm root as far as three or four states away, it's clear that the containment effort of forcing them to pay a toll to leave their state has, alas, failed.

Omg, can I buy you a coffee or a beer or something. You have just handed me splendor beyond measure.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Driving discussions in the northeast always remind me of that Spider-Man pointing meme. PA drivers think NJ and NY drivers suck, NY thinks NJ and PA suck, and then Jersey thinks everyone else sucks. I feel like it’s a bit of selection bias because people tend to drive worse when they’re in an unfamiliar place. Add on the fact that when a bad driver had the same state plates as you one tends to just write them off as an asshole versus lumping them into the out of state tribe of morons.

All I know is whenever someone in Philly tries to tell me us NJ drivers suck, I ask them if they’ve driven on 76 recently. That shit feels like Mad Max.

I76 is just constantly backed up, especially that stretch right near the 30th street exit. That area is just not capable of handing all the people commuting to downtown. It can take me just as long to get from the Delaware line on I95 to I76 as it does to go from the Platt Bridge where 76 starts to the 30th street exit for when I'm working out of Philly for the day.

2

Yeah around 30th definitely gets insane. What pisses me off is a bit further north by the zoo where you have maniacs going 60 plus on the shoulder to avoid the traffic. Hate that shit.

2

Those fuckers followed me all the way down to Georgia. They always have and always will be terrible drivers.

Honestly, there are a lot of great people in NJ. I shouldn't paint with such a wide brush. Also, you guys got great veggies (I stop and get produce a lot in NJ cus it's great) and some amazing Italian food. Had a all time top 5 sandwich in New Jersey.

Live your best life out here NOT_RICK!

I feel like if your mark for a shit state is one or more power tripping mayors you’re gonna have a bad time.

1

Guy in the crowd said something about the mayors wife and kid who were in the audience, mayor “rushed” at the guy, was stopped by police, ushered out, mayor threatens heckler, heckler says he should resign and be arrested. Heckler has been a known opponent of the mayor for a long time so they’ve got history. Seems to me both of them are kinda not great people, tho I don’t have further context than that.
