I know people who used to work there. It's been dead inside for quite a while, and it wasn't really EA that killed it. Bad management, mainly - they fought over turf and they constantly changed their minds about what sort of game was being made. There were basically two teams inside BioWare, the Dragon Age team and the Mass Effect team, and neither liked the other (at the management level that is - the coders and designers and testers down in the trenches were just their cannon fodder and got on fine).

After all the cuts the studio has suffered for the past few years, all the cannon fodder was already gone. The only people that were left inside that shell of a studio were the managers who had been fighting over it. The "winners" got to go down with the ship that they'd won.

I've read that CD Projekt Red has similar problems. Lots of impossible deadlines and abuse down the line. At least some unions have been formed as a result.

Real talk if I was EA with all of the bad press that comes with being EA, I would have killed the EA brand and become Bioware.

One, it's a terrible idea. Two, it's a great and terrible idea. Three, the zombie memes of EA skinning BioWare and wearing it like an Edgar suit would have been fantastic.

this, like many of Jerry's other relationships, failed to work out because of one simple reason.

if you look at her close enough, you can see that she's too old.

Yeah, much as I love that series... It's now marred by the actions and opinions of Jerry.

I'm never going to get that Mass Effect-themed X-Com game, am I.
