I managed to enter the selection of a euro litterature award last year. I am creative, but I'm not successful or rich. I lack the talent for professional insertion. I have difficulties telling lies to get the privilege of being treated like shit in a toxic workplace for long before I burn out, and the older I get, the harder my social burnouts get and the more debilitating they are. The workplace is often revolting and I can't stand it. I have never found a workplace in my life that wouldn't send me to depression. I also am learning to code and dabble in pixel art. I was raised a musician, so that helped with thinking creatively. Feeling legitimate, though, is still a struggle, especially as an indie.
Sorry for the infodump.
im highly creative, just not in the traditional artistic kind of way. im an engineer and even surrounded by intelligent, highly educated, highly technical people i find im a bottomless well of ideas. some of them are even good. one of my favorite things to do at work is think about a difficult problem and imagine all the ways i might solve it, and when i think i have an idea that might work getting to implement it and figure out if it works. that process of coming up with an idea, imagining how it would work, bringing it into the world, and then seeing it work just how i imagined is just mmm 🤌 the artistry of efficient and elegant function is one of my greatest joys.
Hell yeah engineering rules!
Random question: my engineering student society sold shirts that say "Engineering Sucks". I still have one. It physically pains me to admit it's 20 years old. Is that a common thing?
Anyways, I wanted to reply to add that I hate the idea that STEM and the arts are separate and incompatible.
Ars sine scientia nihil est but the opposite is true too. It takes alkynes to make the world go round.

I'm pretty creative. Terrible at finishing anything to any reasonable degree, though. TBH I would really benefit from working together with other people, but between my chronic illnesses and the general issue with forming human connections, that's rather difficult to put into practice.
When I get stoned I legit see paintings I want to paint, hum and write music I want to write, think of novels I could write. It's like I have access to it then, but without the weed the AuDHD and cptsd close that door for me.
Have you ever tried to take notes or make drafts while in that state?
Not yet, I should
Super creative but almost exclusively in a TTRPG context. I do an little writing, a little drawing, a little painting, a little image manipulating, a little video editing, a little sculpture etc, all specifically for the games I'm running and playing. I can perform other arty or crafty functions if asked, but I'm not really creative in it.
I'm creative. And like most creatives it's not sustainable so I'm currently just doing simple things in Starmourn. Like stickers. (all things in Starmourn are written, it's a mud)
So a house full of AI Bros?
It varies

XKCD: exists in sheer mockery
0% creative. It's not really something I do. Artistic creation is so unimportant to me and out of my mind that, when my boyfriend started talking about how Digger is about art, I was like ??? Oh, interesting.
Oh yeah? So how do you think of stuff to do in your relationship? Choose from a list?
We typically movie cuddle or hang out with his family. He has said he'd like to go out more sometimes, but I really just want to cuddle.
Honestly, same.
Cuddling is awesome!
