One more data point showing Musk is uneducated and/or just lying:

In a post on social media, Musk said: "Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many."

It came after he responded to Anthropic's public fund pledge with: "I recommend giving the shares directly to the public. This is what I will be doing."

In 90s Russia, vouchers were given to similarly let people take part in the privatization of former USSR public companies. But because everyone was destitute, predicably those existing families who already owned or controlled resources were able to buy nearly all of the vouchers for nothing, from people who needed to sell them to survive. That in turn just perpetuated the same power dynamic, now with capitalistic oligarchs, in Russia as it was in the USSR. More history here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privatization_in_Russia

If Musk does this, those shares would be sold immediately back to billionaires like him.

(Separately, Anthropic is clearly doing this as PR to try to survive the backlash long enough to IPO and cash out, but I think we all know that already.)

Thanks, yeah, it was pretty unforgettable when I learned it. If anyone is interested - though it requires a "just watch and let time take care of itself" mindset that's hard in 2026 - Adam Curtis' BBC documentary Traumazone about USSR's collapse (and corrupt recapture) covers a lot of this, with wild archival footage.

So their claim (lie) is that this tech will be able to replace the majority of workers, and they think tipping a message 5% (also a lie) would name up for that?
