This woman has a spine of iron and more integrity than half the world's politicians put together:

We're fortunate to have her guiding policy for Signal. Clearly she's gathering people who see things the way she does:

In response to the amendments, Udbhav Tiwari, Signal’s vice president of strategy and global affairs, said that “creating a much weaker version of our product that collects all of this metadata, the choice for us, unfortunately, would be starkly clear: We will not make changes to our product.”

You should listen to her speak:

KC: "Do you think that there might be a push on Signal? There might be pressure put on Signal to try and start collecting data at any point in time? Is that a danger that you could be potentially facing?"

MW: "Well, let me put it this way, not on my watch."

Thanks Meredith, at least someone defends privacy that can get headlines.

Same thing as PornHub “pulling out” of certain states - if geolocation matches, do not provide service

I don't think she would do this. Signal would just shutdown servers located in Canada. When Signal was blocked in Iran she encouraged people to setup proxies so Iranians could still have access, perhaps she would do the same for us Canadians. In any case we would just be in the same situation as people om Iran or China. https://signal.org/blog/run-a-proxy/
