Why do old people always ask 'who are these people?' when you show them anything? They clearly know the concept of images of strange people from news anchors or infomercials or America's funniest home videos. Why is it that they need to know who's cat this is when I'm showing them a funny video?

Old people come from a time where everything was a thing. Everybody watched the same exact shit on TV. Everyone saw the same movies. If anything was anything it was because everyone knew about it. Or if they didnt know about it, someone they knew knew about it

Old people cannot comprehend a world in which media is a trove of infinite niche and hardly anyone knows about the exact same set of 12 things that happened this week

So they see a random meme and wonder why anyone would know it exists without being a thing they missed somehow

Some of the "elders" might have experienced and even went along with bad ideas earlier in their lives despite their best intentions. So instead of saying "no, that is wrong" they're questioning random shit posts, because sarcasm is just not the best way to communicate between people with different references.

When they ask "who are these people" they really mean "source" to make you question the origin of the idea that you're presenting - even if it's sarcasm.

life is a little more strange when you don't even know who any of the famous people are anymore.

Probably not THE worst, but I don't think there would be a good occasion to send your grandma either of these gifs

Third Gif, Grandma raised them but was abusive.

Actually, that scenario works for all three, huh?

One time I sexted my grandma and she sent me a picture of her pussy.

Looked like a piece of beef jerky.

I don't know that it's a reference. Think it's just a silly lil goof

Is this one of those generational humors? I don't get what is funny about polluting the ocean :(

Or why the top image is juxtaposed with the bottom?

I guess I'm the grandma now

The basic joke setup is an expectation that the training is done for a more noble cause than impressing a girl. Then the punchline is doing an environmental crime for an old lady. (Also, you can see font change on the battery part which might indicate that the original comic used to have a wholesome message.)

Oh, i did not make the connection between "being strong" and "car battery heavy," that makes more sense now!

Yeah the thing that makes car batteries tick is lead. Even fancy ones like AGM and whatnot are still lead acid. It's been said that a battery's quality can be told by its weight because more lead = more good

Ohhhh he needed to workout before he was capable of lifting and throwing the batteries. I get it now.

Those of you that have a relationship with your grandparents, please cherish it. All my grandparents are dead and I barely knew any of them. They never really talked to me because they lived so far away and so seeing each other was really awkward. Like strangers trying to catch up.
