Heated fingerless gloves for keyboard use

Looking for electrically heated fingerless gloves for office use. I have chronically cold fingers, and so the intent is just to maintain a bit more dexterity on a keyboard etc. Battery isn't a strict requirement, although that would open up more use cases. I know there are stationary USB-powered models as well. (I suppose nothing prevents using an external power bank on the go)

There isn't exactly shortage of options but a lot of them are just cheap cotton gloves with like one wire stuffed in there, so I'm here trying to fish for the better quality options.

Bertschat Heated Fingerless Under Gloves - Dual Heating

Same glove as in the post, just with a more realistic pic.

So based on the initial search I got these.

Pros

  • Quality feel
  • Top and bottom heat independently adjustable
  • Heating is concentrated in fingers, exactly where it's needed most
  • Decently warm without power too as they're pretty windproof

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Outrageously prized extra batteries
    • They're 7,4V with a some kind of barrel connector. Maybe it would be possible to use third party batteries?
  • Battery sits a bit awkwardly under your wrist when your hands are on a desk. Extension cables are sold though.
  • A bit on the stiff side, but not too bad
  • Colorful LEDs always on in the controller bit. You may wish to hide them in your sleeves
  • The controller bits aren't mirrored for the other glove. I.e. the button closest to your fingers controls palm on the orher glove and backside on the other. There are icons though

Verdict

Certainly above average but I'd still love to find a better pair.

Other models

They have single side heated model as well, and also a heated deskpad. Haven't tried either.

About the company: One of the batteries had a broken charging indicator. I requested a change and was flatly denied. Also returns aren't free despite what the site claims. Expect good gloves, but poor batteries and customer service.

I recommend getting the same batteries cheap directly from Aliexpress.

G-Heat appears to have a respectable looking model. Not recommending as I haven't tried them, but I might give them a try at some point.

My colleague just uses woolen ones, wouldn't they suffice?

Search wrist warmers, there's plenty.

Unfortunately not really. They may hold up for a while but then something knocks the ball down the hill and fingers remain cold until warmed up under a tap or something. I do like them when dexterity isn't so important though, reading for instance.

Seems quite extreme, but you know your needs better than I. You sure you used thick woolen ones and not a cheap plastic substitute?

I don't know why but they don't look particularly warm to me compared to, like, these lonk

No-go for meas they seem to use a battery pack which limits their life time harshly.

Some you can just plug in and use them wired. Another kind of limitation 🤷🏻‍♀

I find non powered standard fingerless gloves do pretty well as they are. The higher up they can get the better so getting up to that last knuckle is huge.

I agree that longer is certainly better. Applies to heated gloves too.

If you’re ok to look past electricity, there are chemical heat packs designed to be inserted inside gloves and boots. Just crack them and insert for several hours heat.

Look for heated motorcycle glove liners.

I had some years ago - the wiring is a fine mesh around the hand/fingers, usually on the outside of the glove material (or sandwiched between layers).

The mesh stops mid-finger, so you could just cut the tips off, or maybe they make them without tips today

As for your battery concern - so long as the battery matches the voltage requirement, it's then just a matter of making the connector match, which is trivial.

Thanks for the idea! Yeah I've run into quite a few motorcycle gloves already. Some finger trimming would seem to be required still.

Yeah I actually discovered that pretty much all the manufacturers use the same Chinese battery pack. I'm just gonna order a couple more of those.
