I hate multiplayer and co-op games, what are some good recent singleplayer games?

My steam is all friendslop and my friends are never available to play with me, and I HATE multiplayer.

I remember the Call of Duty lobbies in 2009 and it was nothing but losers with shitty mics yelling slurs at people!

I hate it. I hate them. I wanna play by myself and a fun game, but I cannot find any! What are some good singleplayer games?! I'm feigning.

I just got done playing Control, and it was a lot of fun. Thinking about picking up the sequel.

Some of my favorites games that come to mind, some are older but you might have missed them.

Sea of stars (chrono trigger like) Outer wilds (exploration, puzzle, mystery, atmospheric storytelling) The messenger (ninja gaiden / metroidvania like) Ori (platformer) Mark of the ninja (platformer) Shank (platformer) Esoteric Ebb (dialog based isometric CRPG) Disco Elysium (dialog bssed isometric CRPG) Blue prince (roguelike puzzle mystery? idk) Hades 1/2 (action roguelike)

+1 for Outer Wilds, maybe my favorite game ever. Go in 100% blind.

"Prey" is fantastic and regularly on sale for a few dollars

Tbh I enjoyed the hell out of Spider-Man 2 recently. I'm just a fan of Spider-Man in general though.

I just got Lantern of the Laughless Saint, which is an indie game made by fans of Morrowind/Elder Scrolls. It plays like a mix of Morrowind and Skyrim, takes place in a funky fantasy world with animal-people, and you can freely switch between swords/bows and magic with a button. I've only played about an hour so far, but I'm liking it enough.

I also just bought (but haven't started yet) Nivalis Nights, which is a sidequel to their first game Cloudpunk. You play a new business owner trying to build up their new ramen business. There are activities for managing your business(es), stocking them up, fishing, growing crops, hanging out and enjoying the city scenery.

Edit: there's also the Grow Home/Grow Up games.

Future? No Thanks!

Dishonored

The Saboteur (timely imo)

Any of the Tomb Raider games

Selaco is a fun boomer shooter

Crimson desert is like The Witcher 3 fucked RDR2. Honestly one of the best games ive played in a minute and for it being less than 1 year old, there already is over 1,500 mods written for it on nexus.

If you like survival games, there are the Subnautica games. Also Planet Crafter offers a single player mode and is pretty fun. The Witcher and Horizon Zero Dawn series are both good RPGs. The Portal and Talos Principle games are great if you like puzzles.

Literally slop of online. I hate Overwatch, I hate Marvel Rivals, I hate Fortnite, and tbh I hate Soulslike games because most have an online element I never asked for.

I mean it, I hate other people in online games. I don't want other people in my games I want it to be me and only me. I have hated online games since 2009 when I got into a CoD lobby and it was nothing but the worst humanity has to offer.

Good suggestions by the way, Neon White looks incredible. Getting it now.

What kinds of games do you like? There's tons of different ones, the best game in the world isn't to do anything for you if you don't gel with its genre. Also, how recent are we talking? Does Baldur's Gate 3 still count, or do you want something from this year?

Platformers and first person shooters, usually. Though I am open to anything so long as it doesn't fucking require some kind of onlineslop.

Have ya played the Ori games? They're on sale now. Most people reviewed them highly.

Can't go wrong with replaying the STALKER series and their major overhaul mods.

...Too many games, can't think of any...

Nope, nothing intrusive like Denuvo. I've had no problems playing it in offline mode on my steam deck.

How recent are we talking about and what did you play recently? What sort of games would you like to play, any preference there? Are AAA games okay or only indie games maybe? There are many question open, so its hard for anyone to recommend something for you. Right now Steam has a sales event going on, where lot of games are cheaper or very cheap price.

Little tip, you can use the Steam search by showing Singleplayer games, Games only (no DLC), hide free to play games, show games with discounts only and hide ignored and those you have in your library already: Steam Search

Within the last 5 years is recent enough for me.

As for AAA or Indie? I do not care, so long as it is simpleplayer and lacks any bloatware like anticheat, I do not care.

As for what I have played in the last 5 years? Pizza Tower, AntonBlast, Warhammer Boltgun, The Exit 8, Psychopomp Gold, POSTAL: Brain Damaged, A Hat in Time, Retro Rewind, and Scarlet Skips.

To my knowledge, none of these games have bullshit like aggressive DRM like Denuvo or any Anticheat. These are highly regarded Indie (some as big as AA budget) games loved by the community. Some cheaper and smaller in scope, others really huge and more expensive in price too. So there should be something for you.

And if you like like RPGs and don't mind AAA, have a look at the Final Fantasy 7 Remakes. Currently two parts are available and the games are quiet cheap nowadays (especially with the sales event going on). I call them simply Part 1 and 2 here, the third part arrives next year. You don't need any of the DLCs, the games are basically complete:

A Plague Tale. Innocence is the first one, Requiem is the sequel. It's entirely linear with a pretty cool story. The "combat" is kind of puzzle adjacent, which makes no sense until you play it and see what I mean.

1

Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon is a lot of fun. It's a first person RPG with a dark take on Arthurian legend. It's not perfect, but it's had a lot of updates, some free DLC, and paid expansions that are actually expansions to the game.

1

Have you played Terraria? I love it, it does have multiplayer but it's not required for anything

Edit: oops you said recent, nvm lol

You reached the end
