To an idiot like him, technology is magic

The demented cunt thought he was talking to some sage wizard from the future

But yet won't listen to actual experts in different fields. Thinks he's an all around genius. I'll bet he only listens and consults Grok because Grok tells him how great he is.

52

Chat bots talk exactly like he wants to be talked to. Reinforcing his ideas, pandering to his ego.

“spent hours” asking Grok about his presidency and his legacy, an official in attendance told TIME

I was worried he was planning the attack

79
cannedtunareply
lemmy.world

He’s just looking for validation like everyone else that talks to AI

48

You could say the same thing about talking to anyone.

legacy

That imbecile's legacy will only ever be that it was blatantly corrupt.
It was a convicted rapist, and serial sexual attacker.
It was a war mongering, school bombing child murderer.
An idiot that bankrupted many casinos (whether it was to launder money or not is a damned idiotic thing).
Plus other things...
But most notably that it was best friends with Jeffery Epstein and is most definitely a paedo!!

10

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

It is a problem that the president is using a public AI tool. I'd consider that a security concern.

2
sopuli.xyz

He has access to nearly infinite information and Intel, yet he consults an LLM. The stupidest fucking president in American history by a mile.

53
lemmy.world

An LLM is an automated sycophant. Of course Trump loves it. An advisor might tell him he has a bad idea.

29

LLM can be sycophantic at times, but it will usually not hesitate to tell you you are wrong.

I think the more attractive LLM property is that you can ask questions, without thereby admitting to a human that there is something he doesn't know. That is surely very attractive to narcissists like Trump.

5

There is load bearing proof that trump is absolutely right.

3

So Obama couldn't even have the weather app on his phone but now presidents can talk to chatbot for hours? Opsec is keeping its level tied to the administration, huh?

51
feddit.uk

Turns out Skynet has already taken over. We never needed to give it control, people are dumb enough to just obey it...

42

While AI-bros warn everyone how dangerous their newest version of slop-machine is this is the part I'm genuinely worried about. LLM hallucinations about nuclear threat could genuinely push someone in the current US admin to believe that pre-emptive strike to China is actually a good idea.

AI overlors in the 1980s knew better. A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

7

This insane fuck.

Hey grok, should I kidnap the veneprez?

grok: this infinity fuckup can't be this dumb. YEAH BRO SEND IT LETS GOOO. holy shit this is going to be so fucking funny.

grokk hits bong and passes out

38
lemmy.world

Not a stretch to assume Musk has known all about this and has been taking full advantage for a while

34
bremreply
lemmy.world

One could say the same for the lizard person that skinned him and wears Elon as a suit.

4

That implies there was an Elon that is different from the lizard person and that is simply not true. There was only ever lizard person.

So the guy that can't kill video game police officers in GTA V is directly complicit in the extraducial killings of living breathing human beings to kidnap the leader of a sovereign state.

33

It's ok, because only cop lives matter (except the ones guarding the capitol on January 6th, obviously).

15
lemmy.world

At this point it’s pretty apparent that not only do we not need a president, we can still function with one that is actively working to destroy the country.

25
sh.itjust.works

*Can still function FOR A WHILE

The zombie of the federal government will still keep shambling forward until it doesn't. Look at the Soviet Union.

When (not if) that happens because if this admin's years of smash-and-grab active sabotage nothing is gonna magically improve for you and me.

I'm not exactly enthusiastic about the coming Tech Feudalism these guys are trying to build before our very eyes.

25

This is SOP for our gerontocracy. Both Reagan and Biden were non compos mentis for parts of their terms.

And, heck, Nancy was clearing Ronnie's schedule through an astrologer, so Grok isn't even the wackiest WH advisor we've had.

6

An interesting point! I've heard others say they prefer gridlock in Washington.

3
lemmy.world

How do we know it wasn't just Elon typing the reply on the other side of the connection?

22

That would give him the speed to type the response in real time!

It seems that all of this AI is turning into nothing more than a Magic 8-Ball. The only real difference is that a Magic 8-Ball doesn't cost billions and trillions. After consulting my Ouija Board it suggested that we bring back the Magic 8-Ball for all of our important government decisions. /s

20

The only real difference is that a Magic 8-Ball doesn’t cost billions and trillions

A magic 8-ball doesn't double my electric bill and cause massive droughts to cool

5

Fun fact: you can ask an LLM to respond to questions like a magic 8-ball. Works great. Please use responsibly.

4
lemmy.today

Right wingers are obssesed with AI, because it tells them what they want to hear.

20
piefed.social

Which is weird because when I ask AI if trans women are women it always says yes.

10
lemmy.nz

If you ask it in more hateful phrasing it will agree with you

11

"Are men wearing dresses and pretending to be girls actually real women or is it just a lefty liberal woke thing that hates jesus?"

9

Ai is designed to be sycophantic and tell you what you want to hear. Phrasing makes a difference to the results more than the truth

8

That's a genius observation! Good on you for noticing!

... because it agrees with everyone, so increase retention.

6
piefed.ca

AI is designed around telling the user what they want to hear, and only mindless idiots take advice from sycophants, ergo….

11

There's a reason CEOs love AI more than anyone else. The vile servility of an LLM is what they think is normal human behavior.

10

This sounds very much like an ad for grok than a report of any actual incident.

9
sh.itjust.works

We are truly entering a new age. People from every part of society are using AI and doing what it says. Whatever errors in AI there is, will manifest in real life. We can't seem to help but look for something more powerful than ourselves and without a mystical God, I guess we have to built one out of silicon and electricity.

8
feddit.org

He who controls the slop machines controls the world, as the old saying goes. It sounds more epic in its original Latin.

4

and “spent hours” asking Grok about his presidency and his legacy

He did not even knew who he was abducting 😭🙏

6

Right after asking if his toupee was convincing and right before asking if he has the biggest wiener in the world.

5
lemmy.dbzer0.com

Did he also consult AI to start a war with Iran?

I don't know about Grok, but ChatGPT has a disclaimer that it can make mistakes.

4

Elon Musk emulates a dude with a chainsaw & also Hitler, but that doesn't mean you should listen to his "text based adventure game" for advice

3

So an AI is actually running the most powerful country on earth.

To paraphrase the inestimable Captain Hector Barbossa: Ye'd best start believing in cyberpunk dystopias, yer in one.

2

Dems please release his chat logs please it will be so funny.

2

That trump prompt that they found that the article reprinted is WILD! Can you imagine if Obama had said the same?

"Computer man I'm very much an idiot so much and dumb with a bad brain but NOBODY knows so what would not idiot do so that he doesn't shit his pants and the shit rolls down his pants and gets on his lifts in shoes and also show picture of boobs from a girl?"

1
lemmy.world

Well, tbh this is actually one of the few things that actually fucking worked. Maybe his brain is actually inferior to AI.

Are the people of Venezuela happy/better off now that the USA is taking all their oil?

19

apparently Chevrons the only company that has the expertise to deal with the type of oil venezuelan has. i dont think they can extract it fast enough.

1
Photonicreply
lemmy.world

No, but that was not his goal, now was it?

Edit: to clarify, my statement was a reaction to the entire comment, not just the last few words. I meant that his goal wasn’t to make sure the Venezuelan people were better off now he’s taken their oil, not that his goal wasn’t to take their oil.

And what I implied was that his goals were entirely selfish.

-8
Miaoureply
jlai.lu

You genuinely believe Trump did this for the good of the Venezuelan people? Some here shouldn't be throwing the first stone...

1
lemmy.world

Absolutely not. That's not what I'm saying at all. It seems to me this guy is saying it wasn't about oil

0

Abducting Maduro, the military action I mean or whatever you would call it

1
sh.itjust.works

"How dare you imply that the President's intention was self-centered and at the expense of the good people of Venezuela! He would never!" is what I imagine the people downvoting you are thinking.

2
Photonicreply
lemmy.world

I have no idea what happened either LOL, either “Truth” Social has found Lemmy or people are massively misunderstanding my comment. Oh well

1
sh.itjust.works

I think it's the social rule of never saying something good about something bad, the inverse being never say something bad about something good. Tribalism.

2

Yeah and sometimes when people see downvoted comments they tend to jump on the bandwagon. I’ve had multiple moments on Lemmy before

2

Alex, show us the correct answer on the screen...

Oooh, sorry, whatever you call yourself...

The answer is "both are worthless & manipulative"

1
bthestreply
lemmy.world

hahahahahahaha worked....

Well those fucking empty oil reserves and diesel prices sure as fuck don't think it worked.

Who would have thought sanctioning and sabotaging a small country's oil industry into the ground for the better part of a century would mean it's not very useful when you need it to cover your other oil war.

But I guess it's not too late to start and loose a war with Mexico over their oil.

0

I meant just the “military action” of abducting him from his home country. That undeniably worked

1
frongtreply
lemmy.zip

This time. I'm sure he asked grok about his other actions, most of which have gone disastrously
