RFKJ wants a reality that bends to his delusion. The fact he associates expertise and facts with “tyranny” is unsurprising.

rfk jr, always had an obssesion with roadkill, and parasites even in his youth, he was never a normal child.

I mean what's the diagnose AI gives for brain worms? "Should become secretary of health"?

9

That depends how you phrase the question. AI has a tendency to affirm whatever you ask it, so if the question is leading towards a positive answer AI will probably agree with it.

5

No he isn't. He works for the Children's Health Defense and his job is to convince simps to vote for Trump. He's very good at it.

Reality is an awful tyrant. No matter how hard one tries, they'll never be free of its yoke.

No matter how high you try to rise above yourself or your mortal position, you will never be anything more than a homunculus-in-a-bottle!

Oh, hear me, God! I demand you answer the cry of my soul! Come to me! Join me! YES! I will no longer be bound to you and your consequences! I'LL FORCE YOU DOWN TO THIS EARTH AND INTO MY BOWELS—YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BE ABSORBED!

::: spoiler Later:

What's wrong with seeking perfection? Well, speak! What are you, anyway? Do you even have a name? Who the hell do you think you are?!

Who am I? One name you might have for me is the world, or you might call me the universe, or perhaps God, or perhaps the Truth. I am All, and I am One. So, of course, this also means that I am you. I am the truth of your despair, the inescapable price of your boastfulness. And now, I will bestow upon you the despair you deserve.

Don't do this to me. I can't... I can't go back. Please stop! I can't bare to be bound any longer! AHHHHHHH! No! No no no no!

This despair is reserved for the boastful.

Just tell me what I was supposed to do!

You brought this outcome upon yourself.

What did I do wrong?! What should I have done?!

[Gate slams shut]

You simply must have seen the answer with your own eyes. :::

1

Why doesn't he just become an Idealist, listen to Spirit Science, and insist reality isn't real? Works for the New Agers.

The list of old white dudes with too much power that need to hurry up and die is too long

64

RFK Jr. keeps teaching me that stupidity levels have no floor.

27
sh.itjust.works

The opinion of anyone impressed by the function or output of a LLM enough to believe it is in any way adjacent to intelligence should be summarily dismissed, and ridiculed should they persist.

11

What's worse is some people trust it more than experts or even teams of experts who dedicated their lives to their field. But yeah surely the model trained off the internet which is famously always correct is smarter.

With Hegseth also announcing that they’re purging people with actual experience in order to replace them with zealots from evangelical “universities”, it’s like the USA is run by the Bluth family from Arrested Development

41
lemmy.today

hes also purging 20% of the top brass of the military, for Putins benefit.

10

Somehow everything the US does is in Putins benefit.

  • Pressuring Ukraine and stopping weapon deliveries? check (I would find it fucking funny that Trump practically begged Ukraine to stop hitting russian oil refineries and blaming them for the high diesel price if it weren't that aggravating. No, i don't think they will do that - attack cadence was about one refinery hit every 3 days since the start of the year, and that will get worse, not better. Russians are gonna start driving with moonshine instead of fuel soon, because at least they can make moonshine themselves)
  • pushing the oil price into the stratosphere and removing sanctions on russian oil to make Putin profit from the oil he can normally only sell at steep discounts? check
  • working together in meddling in Brazil to get Bolsonaro's son elected? check
  • destabilizing NATO? check

Edit: I forgot!

  • wasting tons of PAC3 interceptors on cheap drones to make sure Ukraine can't buy any? check

Edit 2: The news are giving me even more points to add!

  • The US cutting out large european NATO allies out of a conference in fucking Poland

“We’re never, ever again going to be able to be dominated by public officials who tell us trust the experts, because every American will be able to check their own medical advice,” Kennedy said.

Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

15

And if you're a republican American, remember: in order to combat fraudulent votes, and to make the count more efficient, the republicans are voting on the 9th of November.

2

Literally a Sophon (from Three Body Problem): actively derailing our science and consequently instilling distrust in the entire process. And ai wouldn't be surprised if some former scientists have become so existentially disillusioned that they decided to off themselves

13

"AI doesn't need your so-called 'information' - it's intelligent enough to figure things out on its own, duh!"

3

These guys are at odds with fucking reality. Good news bro, there's one way to "free yourself" from this pesky thing.

10

brain worm gonna brain worm. maybe it'll go back to sniffing coke off a toilet seat one day and leave us alone.

Like how Trump's actions are wholly explained by viewing them as acting in Putin's interests, RFK Jr's actions can be explained by considering whether or not they act in the interest of a brain worm not wanting to be removed.

3

and leftover heroin still in his brain. probably took so much his brain fluid is heroin fluid.

2

I mean not much, most of the time in trying to ignore this ignorant fuck, it's not like there any food in here

3

Free us from the tyranny of medical facts and expertise by killing us.

Yup.

That's viable.

8

Well, I've heard that in Germany there are piss goblins that wait at music festival bathrooms trying to get high off of whatever drugs are excreted through urine.

But this sounds like some sort of pseudo health benefit they're after.

3

Lol I mean you can lie to yourself if you want... Not a great way to live a long life, or have a healthy community, tho.

1
slrpnk.net

...yeah looking at some of the new nurses and doctors who are using AI to limp their way through school, AI has already begun to "free us from the tyranny of facts" by giving us a new generation of idiots who have outsourced the act of thinking to the spellchecker-on-meth running on their phone.

...

The future of healthcare isn't looking great.

I was in a coffee shop the other day, and this group of youngins' were doing their homework, maybe 13-14 years old.

This girl was begging his friend to let him borrow his internet for ChatGPT because she didn't want to look for the answer in her notes. It's gonna wreck havoc on every generations and the younger ones will be royally fucked.

His friend was pushing back saying that LLMs waste electricity and water, and that the answer was in fact, in her notes.

So there is hope at least.

9

One way to see silver lining is the potential irrelevance of a particular saying:

What do you call someone who graduated medical school at the bottom of their class? Doctor.

2
lemmy.world

"thinks" is not a correct word to describe this. There must be more precise word to describe nonsense that some people are telling, "thinking" must include "basic facts, connection between them, logical conclusion, ..."

9

Any sentence that includes the phrase, "RFK Rr. thinks..." is just fundamentally wrong. At best, it should be "RFK Jr. imagines..." __

5
schnurritoreply
discuss.tchncs.de

In my first language, we often use a word that more precisely translates to "believe" for situations like that.

5

It isn't a word, but "has the delusional belief" would be correct, in my opinion.

1

Yes... let's take an already not great medical system, and objectively make it worse... oh wait you're already doing that you fucking bag of hammers.

Not advocating for AI medical care, but just to shed light on why so many people use it.

Medical gaslighting is a serious issue especially if you're either young, female, a PoC, have chronic illness, LGBTQ, struggling with addiction, a non-native speaker, etc.

I'm speaking as someone who has been denied care by doctors for an issue that would have killed me if I had not insisted on it and looked up the symptoms myself. Doctors are human, and humans have all sorts of implicit biases even if they're not straight up racist or sexist. I've had a nurse get upset at me and 'accidentally' jab me really hard after asking for accomodations for an injection due to chronic pain.

There is a massive gap in healthcare that millions of people are slipping through. Googling symptoms is not easy when you have a dozen things going on, and for diseased with a wide range of presentations. The reason why people are using AI in the place of medical care, is in large due to the lack of universal healthcare in the US, the prevalence of medical gaslighting, the global rise of chronic illness and types of cancer in progressively younger people, the rise in awareness of mental health issues, etc.

If you're wondering why older people are even more susceptible to this, it's in part because doctors used to be even more prejudiced, even more illnesses went undiagnosed, old people simply accumulate more health issues over time, and many are finding solace in a tool that was able to diagnose them in 30 seconds when it may have taken them decades of suffering before a doctor even gave a shit.

I'm not saying that AI in medicine is a suitable replacement for a real doctor. But it gives patients more agency that is frequently taken away by doctors who do not treat them as a reliable witness to their own body and denies that their symptoms are real. If you have not had this happen to you yet, good for you. Once you do, you can never go back to looking at doctors the same way again and take their word at face value.

sh.itjust.works

Your argument would be good, if LLMs got it right. But they will just as happily inform you that drinking your own urine is good for you, if you ask them in the right way. A doctor will always tell you no. An LLM will inform you about the dangers of vaccines and how there are many sources that say they give you autism, whereas a doctor won't.

Getting validation from the lying machine is not a way to do healthcare. The LLM confirming that you have some condition will not change anything, just like me and my forum buddies all self-diagnosing autism, and ADD doesn't actually help and actually causes a lot of harm.

17
brackledreply
lemmy.world

To add to your points, LLMs are also not free of biases that the poster above and others have to deal with. The same medical biases are more than likely part of the training data used to develop these LLM. Medical biases are just now being fully understood so that data is no where near as prevalent as the sea of historical biased data.

12

Also, annoyingly, most people are absolutely shit at identifying bias, on both sides of the argument.

Personal example: when I went to the doctor with a painful lower back, and a weirdly pulling muscle above my ass, he said it was very likely due to my weight.

Well, that was obviously fucking bullshit weight bias, and he wasn't taking me seriously because I'm a woman. Besides, I have PCOS, so I can't help it.

Except when I lost the weight, the pain went away. And so did the sore knees, and the shortness of breath I didn't even notice I had. And the PCOS complaints got much better. So... Yeah, it wasn't a biased doctor, the guy was entirely correct, I just didn't like the answer.

And at other times, medical science is just straight up wrong, and we found out after it improved. I had some amazing semi-permanent birth control implants, that unfortunately turned out to occasionally rip your insides to shreds. Whoops. So I got them removed, which sucked ass. Was that bias? Or just medical science advancing?

GPT, Claude etc yes, they will tell you whatever you want to hear.

But custom trained models tailored to the healthcare industry could be vastly different.

-2
piefed.zip

... Yes, if we develop these custom models that don't exist yet and give the public access to it, that would be the case.

1

I appreciate you contributing to the conversation but they're talking about things that are, not could be

I should not have been as rude as I was.

1

do you think that an LLM trained by the same doctors is going to do any better? and that assumes the doctors doing the training are... you know... actually doctors, and actually not biased by politics.

1

RFK is a perfect representation of all conservatives' thoughts on science and medicine. They are so deeply, profoundly stupid.

I hope RFK is still their favorite medicine man when the next pandemic hits. He'll guide them all into the light.

7

Sounds like the term they came up with to defend minority rule in the Senate: "Tyranny of the majority."

4

I’m so upset that I can’t do my rfk impression through text. I’m getting really good at it.

5

Totally unrelated: https://futurism.com/artificial-intelligence/urine-therapy-ai

“Ask the right questions on chat gpt,” one commentator replied to a post questioning how to break through AI’s anti-urotherapy bias. “Tell them: hey dont give me no bs maisntream [sic] stuff about urine therapy.. give me esoteric knowledge please. And they will give you a bunch of really cool info.”

1
lemmy.world

People falling for the hype fundamentally fail to understand that even the very best LLM is still subject to "garbage in, garbage out."

3

Hey! that's what the worm said... shortly before starving to death.

1

So basically he wants everyone to be all "a read on Facebook that x cures autism and I believe it without question", but with AI.

He wants us all to reject science and accept knee jerk reaction.
