Dozens attend Fairview school board meeting in support of transgender homecoming queen
aturday night, Fairview High School held its annual homecoming dance, but this year, the celebration was the subject of controversy.
Prior to the dance, upperclassmen students voted a transgender girl, Sammi, as this year’s homecoming queen.
It’s a vote that didn’t sit well with some in the community, sparking what some are calling harassment on social media directed at the queen, students and school staff.
“There was a lot of hate saying that Sammi, being a transgender individual, was taking the spot from somebody who was born female,” said Logan Thompson, student council secretary. “They were behaving erratically due to the results of our homecoming court.”

I'm so glad people are standing up for her 😭
Right? It’s beautiful to see.
These people always say “just let kids be kids” and as soon as kids do something they don’t like it’s all “we must protect the kids”.
I'll never fathom the concept of homecomings. I've bothered to learn what they are, I just don't understand how they're a thing.
If you actually researched the origins of Homecoming, you're probably way off. Every school I've been involved in has little to no connection of the "why". Most people don't actually "come home" to visit their old school.
It's just an excuse to make a football game extra special.
That's the sort of behavior that should get you doxxed.
