Apparently this is Russian retaliation for the Swiss government imposing sanctions on Russia.

For most of us supporting Ukraine, I think we're quite happy with this. Western companies that stayed in Russia after the invasion showed their greed was greater than their ethics. This seizure is a satisfying karmic result. Further, any remaining Western companies that thought they could stay and operate with "business as usual" are likely forming rapid exit plans from this latest move by Russia.

The real winner here is Ukraine.

Putin accidentally created a non-free-market socialist economy. Hell yes? Or something?

Yep, after thinking about it, my joke was shittier than intended. Would add a Britney Spears meme but my shitty reception won't allow it.

Suits them for staying in and doing business with a kleptocracy.

Yeah - I have difficulty finding sympathy for the companies that decided to remain after the invasion.

3

Oh. No. Darn. So worried. Please don't hurt the mega corp who fucks over everyone and everything around them. Gosh say it ain't so.

21

They had several years to pull operations out of Russia and didn't. So their loss. When the invasion started and kept going they should've closed up shop like several businesses did.

21

thats what they get for still operating there. take heed foreign countries operating in the us. trump follows putin like a fly follows shit.

This is a wild thought but putin might be less of a bastard than nestle. Like I genuinely feel that even invading a soverign country, starting a years long war, purposely targeting power infrastructure during the winter, and all that shit is still somehow less evil than what nestle does.

Everyone with eyesight probably, greed makes ghoul class blind.

And the factory started... doing LESS to hurt the workers, environment and surrounding communities.

couldn't have happened to a better company.

Coke or McDonald's would have been good choices too.

https://leave-russia.org/coca-cola

The Coca-Cola Company is suspending its business in Russia but starts making in Russia 'Dobry Cola' and a bunch of juices with brands like Rich and Moya Semya.

That is such bullshit propaganda. Is cokewashed a term yet?

You're not reading your source very well, and you're drawing incomplete conclusions.

The American Coca-Cola company did divest its assets and left Russia in 2022. The company making Dobry Cola isn't the American Coca-Cola company. The company making Dobry Cola is called Multon Partners and is owned a company called Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) which is a Dutch bottling company, not the American soda company. The American soda company does not have a controlling interest (51% or greater) in Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) to decide to force Multon to stop.

The villains are fighting each other. Hopefully, Putin sends the contaminated milk to his front lines.

Not even close. When one shitty organization does something shitty to another organization, it doesn't make the first organization good. We can still celebrate the second organization experiencing the inevitable consequences of continuing to capitulate to the first organization.

Another example: In 1939, during WWII Stalin and Hitler agreed to carve up Eastern Europe between the two countries and to not attack each other. Nazi Germany and Russia invaded Poland devastating the country and killing millions of innocent civilian Poles. Two years later in 1941, Hitler violated the pact and invaded Russia anyway killing millions of Russians. Its hard to feel sorry for 1941 Russia after what 1939 Russia did to Poland. In none of the scenarios is Hitler a good guy.

Thats a great example where they both suck and are evil.

Of note: the Soviets were happy to let the Nazis have their half of Europe as long as the Nazis let them have their autocracy in their half.

Russia truly was only on the side of the “good guys” because their bad guy ally double crossed them.

Man, lemmy sure does seem to love its historical revisionism.

The opposite is true: The USSR tried forming alliances against the Nazis while all western powers signed agreements with the Nazis, with the USSR finally joining in to buy more time to prepare for the coming war.
