End of an era: NC DMV eliminates stickers, routine paper registration on Oct. 1
Beginning October 1st registration stickers on your license plate will no longer be required and the state will no longer provide a paper copy of your registration. You will be able to download/print a PDF of your registration, or you can get a paper copy from the state for a $5 fee, but they’re not really necessary now that all police cars have computers that can look up registration details. Eliminating the stickers and paper registrations will save the state $4.8 million each year. Drivers are of course still required to pay for the registration and property taxes annually, and must complete an emissions and safety inspection prior to renewing registration (although the state is working with the federal government to remove the emissions inspection requirement from all counties except Mecklenburg).

I guess all the ladies working at the DMV will need to find a new job.
This would be the people working at the license plate agencies, which are run by independent contractors, not the driver’s license locations. But I feel like there’s less need for them since there’s less need to go in to get a paper with the sticker. But if you’re in a small town with a location that’s quick and easy it might still be better than dealing with the stupid “chat bot” everything has to run through online and also charges an additional convenience fee.
Yea I am in Morganton. Even on a busy day it takes no more tan 15 mins.
