I went to a car dealership not long ago, helping a friends, and even the salesman mispronounced it. We peaced out right then. No thanks. You're showing you're not only not knowledgeable, but don't care enough to get to get it right.
Not sure what country you're getting angry in, but in the UK at least, they "officially" changed the pronunciation from "hyundai" to "hyunday" with a series of adverts a couple of years ago.
They were literally called Hyundai (i.e. with high-un-die pronunciation) in all their own adverts and everything for the last 40 or 50 years. Of course, basically everyone still calls them Hyundai.
I don't think ignoring a companies "rebranding advert" really suggests anything about someone's knowledge or care.
I'm in the US, heard a multitude of pronunciations from people here. I'm not getting angry, I'm just adding clarification on how to say it (at last In US).
Although I did get upset when a supposed "expert"-or at least industry professional- can't use naming correctly.
As for other countries, yes there are discrepancies with numerous name pronunciations, and while I agree with many (Nissan, Prius, or Jaguar to name a few), saying Hyundai any other way is nails on a chalkboard to me now.

How do you feel about the British pronunciation of Jag-you-ah? Assuming you're from a "Jag-waah" area of the world :)
I much prefer the British version than Midwest US "jag-wire"
