I turned 50 and spent my birthday building a Lego set with my son

My sister (who lives several continents away) sent me a huge LEGO pirate ship . The set number 31367 31387 for those interested. I spent the evening building with the help of my 13 year old. I also took two or three drams.

I have no regrets.

Edit2: thanks for the birthday wishes. :-)

who lives several continents away

This is the only way I can understand this clause

OP throwing shade on us all that his sister is a research scientist partying with the Penguins down under.

That still only counts as one

Yeah but if you go this way you go through multiple continents

Sorry I was too lazy to remove your arrow

Hm. I was thinking Australia but isn't that at most just one continent away, like Antarctica? Not sure how English language works in that respect.

Anyhow, happy 50th to OP!

I believe you mean 31387!

But that is a peak birthday!

You are absolutely correct. I updated the post and I totally do not need glasses. At all.

Thank you! I was scrolling through the comments for the correct set number!

Time spent with those you love is well spent. Sounds fun.

Sorry Sir, that's not dull - that's fucking awesome! I now have the urge to get myself a new set

Congrats! What are drams?

Edit: found answer, shot glass, in britain, apparently

It's used interchangeably with "alcoholic drink", often sipped like a whiskey. I doubt OP was bagging shots while he was sitting doing Lego with the kiddo.

I turned 54 this year and went to Legoland in Billund, 50 years to the month since I was last there. Found the exact same street model that my dad took cine film of.

My son has wanted to go to billund since he was four. It's coming up sometime soon.

Best Happy Birthday evar!!!!!!

***I hope the drams were your most favorite!

All good. You'd be surprised how many customers or business men I've seen buying Gunpla in Akihabara or Fukuoka with gray hair when I was visiting.

4

happy birthday, I spent my last birthday building the orange Lego cat with my kids, 10/10 birthday.

My wife and I have a tradition of building a large LEGO set together on our anniversary every year.

LEGO has never been more open to adults. Go for it and enjoy.

I'll turn 50 soon and I would love to have a family & a kid to build lego sets with. However, it didn't happen and I am enjoying other aspects of life that I wouldn't have gotten to experience otherwise. Anyways, I am happy for you :)

Will you keep it built or take it apart and built it again another day or take it apart and use the pieces to build something else? When my kids were young they built them and then took them apart and built other things. Now no one seems to do that.

You reached the end
