It's Saturday 09/12/2026. Hey, What's Going On!

Dash kept waking me up, so I am awake but not functional. So here's a picture of his bushed out tail.

This post is for casual conversation if you don’t feel like making a post of your own.

So turns out, "bring a side dish" meant mother wanted me to bring a vegetable and she didn't like the cornbread. I mean, she liked the taste of it. But it wasn't what she wanted.

Maybe...tell me vegetable sidedish then! Guh.

I also was unable to keep the tiredness and pain from my face so much she commented on it which is. Bad. She'll be upset I wasn't able to pull it together for this event.

Also, wear a nice shirt and pants, and your husband was wearing a hawaiian tshirt? Buh. I was panicking because I don't have something nice anymore that fits, so I threw together three things in layers to make something at least niceish. Guh. Buh.

I did sleep like 10 hours when I got home though. I've been sleeping like 3-4, waking up, doing a bit, sleeping again, over and over cause my body will not sleep through and night sweats. Guess doing social stuff is exhausting enough to sleep lots!

The cat water bowl is clean. I'll have leftover honey cake for breakfast in a bit.

I can't resist the urge to share something that has helped me so I'll put it behind an unsolicited advice spoiler lol

::: spoiler spoiler I know it's not that easy but I tell myself if people can't tell me what they want I can't be expected to give it to them, and their disappointment is not something that should cause guilt. That's not to say you have to say yes to every request, but it is literally impossible to say yes to a request that isn't made.

Could it be they are asking and you aren't hearing? Well, then they also have a responsibility to work with you to figure out a way you can communicate rather than getting mad that their communication strategies aren't effective with you.

There is a real cost with trying to anticipate every hidden meaning and request from other people! :::

Yeaaaah but it's still my mother, she installed that guilt free with the years of raising me lol.

I see The Complete Calvin and Hobbes hardcover edition! I have a copy of that too! I love that edition. They stopped making them and started printing a 4-book soft-cover edition instead.

I used to collect Calvin and Hobbes books when I was a kid (I'm in my 40s now). I believe I have a copy of every book. To this day, it's still one of my favorite series. I grew up in a forested countryside, so a lot of Calvin's adventures in his forested backyard mirrored my own.

I kind of miss my childhood without the Internet. If I ever felt bored, I could just go outside and play in the woods or the farm fields. Or bike down to the lake and go swimming. Now I'm constantly tied to my little glowing rectangle with the world's information (and misinformation) streaming into my face all day. Just getting outside to mow my lawn is a struggle. I have to constantly remind myself that outside my house is a magical world that I need to spend more time exploring. 😉

I wish Bill Watterson made a modern Calvin comic that shows how Calvin deals with our current technological world. The '80s-'90s, when the comic was written, was a completely different world than today.

I have total respect for the man though, refusing to compromise his art for more money. He spent his whole career fighting for more artistic license and freedom in his comic style, while resisting the offers to merchandise outside of the books (and two calendars).

When the pressure to sell out got too great, he instead just quit and dropped the comic altogether. And he stuck to his guns, never returning to it again. It definitely makes his art a rare and valuable contribution to the world. I wouldn't be surprised to find Spaceman Spiff alien world landscapes hung in art museums one day.

Unlike Jim Davis, who sold out his Garfield comic and monetized every inch of it. He merchandised the hell out of it, making toys, clothing, cartoon shows, movies, etc. He even has his own team writing and drawing the comic for him now; he hasn't drawn a Garfield comic in decades. He just sits back and collects royalties now. I can respect the hustle, but I'll never respect him as an artist. He's the anti-Bill Watterson in the comic world.

My mom wakes me up and is all like don’t worry but I have a weird spot and it looks like white skin cancer…
So much for don’t worry.
I’ll be interested to find out what it is if she gets it checked out by a doctor.

My weekend is probably going to be restful. I'll probably only go out to play Pokemon Go and get groceries.

That being said, your cats are incredibly baby. very cute. meow
