Does it suffer from the "yellow paint" phenomenon or something?

Well that’s what I thought too, surely it can’t be that bad? In short imagine if yellow paint ate Navi

So it’s a linear game, and from the brief 5 min review I saw (didn’t even know there was a Wolverine game until all this discourse) it is a linear game, like REALLY linear, like the first level has one entrance and exit.

There is a constant blue line to show the player where to go like a gps line, and Wolverine always talks to him self.

Theres also now a purple line at the end of the level to a doorway (challenge room) and this too needs a gps path despite being very obvious if you look to the left. The first challenge was a traversal challenge, and because the game has like 0 traversal mechanics aside from “wall climb on yellow paint” so they got the fastest time first try

And there was a “hidden” chest with 3 different cues, a constant hum, a quick sonar ping, and a visual pulse so big you could EASILY see it upon exiting the challenge room over all geometry

Wow. I was mildly to cautiously optimistic after the reveal trailer a while back.

Now that excitement is completely gone.

I wanted The Wolverine not Fisher Price's Angy Weasel.

On top of all this, the quick time events complete themselves if you dont press anything.

So ultimately, they're just an annoying button prompt overlay on a cutscene.

Oh my god that’s awful. I can’t remember if I mentioned it and my first comment isn’t loading, but I didn’t watch the whole review just 5 or 10 min, and I stopped watching cus like surely it can’t be worse than this, the apex of yellow paint

My goodness and I thought already it insulted the players

Like I don’t mind these things as an accessibility option, like one of my friends struggles with QTEs cus she has some physical stuff that makes those inputs difficult, especially if the button presses are random like in QTEs. But anyways my point is as an OPTION. Like even Skyrim had something like clairvoyance and it was really useful if I was being an absolute idiot or during modded maze quest

But that’s just ridiculous

It's uh... the most handholding I've seen in a title ever. Not only does the game have the usual white paint and leading voice lines, it also has an always on, can't be disabled "scent trail" leading you along the right path. The game's hidden challenges have even larger purple trails. If you follow the purple trail to a challenge, they'll put a damn waypoint on the scent trail in addition to the purple trail. All this in a linear game with only one path.

And honestly I'm just scratching the surface, it's a shocking new low in how badly modern games hold your hand, which is in stark contrast to its "mature adult game for adults" marketing. I recommend looking up some reviews to see just how wild this is, SkillUp's is particularly entertaining.

That’s honestly my top desired feature from modern games, that and save anywhere.

I might be the problem, sorry guys.

Maybe they're assuming adults have limited time for games and don't want to spend it figuring stuff out.

Normally you'd have a point. But I'd seriously recommend looking up a review before taking a defensive stance on this one.

Honestly, I'd say they're wasting your time with "exploration" at all, if they're going to be this aggressive about giving it away. There's no joy in solving a puzzle when you're told the answer before you can even think about it. The puzzle is simply wasting your precious time. There's no joy in "looking" for something that gives away its hiding spot with massive sonar and loud noises as soon as you enter the room. You're just doing chores.

They could've made a shorter action game with a good story, or they could've at least made this stuff optional and given the player agency, and then we wouldn't even be talking about the game, but they opted instead to utterly waste your time on padding with no substance, and to insult your intelligence.

Sounds like they could cut the fat and make it a visual novel with cutscenes

This was my big problem with Doom TDA. Felt like I was being led around like a lost child. Even secrets were like, obviously there and had paths leading to them. The combat was fine, if not a little tedious with the patented "shield doesn't take damage" enemies. Felt like a slog, honestly.

Aww man, one of my favourite parts of original Doom games was looking for secrets. The Dark Ages is on my playlist since it was on sale a while ago. I found the secrets even in Eternal to be extremely obvious… like just turn a corner and the "secret" is right there in plain view

It's one of those latent trends where it's not a "bad" game fundamentally, but rather it feels kinda soulless, and not really like doom as it was originally intended.

It's fine if you catch it on sale, IMO, but don't expect exploration, puzzle solving or labryinth stuff.

A shame. The dude that spearheaded the story for Spec Ops The Line was a part of this game and I was excited to see what came of it.

Looks like it’s a pass for me.

Tbf I heard the story is one of the better aspects of the game. Not that it make it worth the purchase though

The only time I've had my car broken into was a local homeless guy breaking out my window to steal a hoodie. Left the iPod hanging out of the car by the auxiliary cable. The worst part was the car was unlocked. You could have just taken the sweater my dude.

Well, if your car looks like it has been broken into with the use of adamantium claws, then you would know what animal was behind it, bub.

Funny. Gamestar (german gaming magazine) had good words for that game.
