It's Friday 09/11/2026. Hey, What's Going On!
It's the 25th anniversary of 9/11. I went down to the break room where I was working because someone told us a plane had hit the world trade center. Watching the smoke rolling off the first building I thought "what idiot flies a plane into a sky scraper?" And right after that the second plane hit. We saw it live when it happened. I never really understood the term "my blood ran cold". Twenty five years later and I still remember that feeling like it was branded into my brain. There have been many atrocities in history and now, this is just the one I witnessed.

Also my experience with 9/11 was that it was featured in my geography textbook as a little fun fact section when we were learning about terrorism :3 and that's about as much exposure I had to it besides all the memes
I got in the car headed for work, turned on the radio for the morning news and they were talking about it having just happened about 20 min earlier. I didn't know what to think.
Right as I got to work a bunch of people were heading to the red cross to donate blood so I went with them.
I was in high school. It must have been religion class because I remember the religion teacher wheeling in a TV and putting it on. I am sure the adults wanted to see what was going on but I now question the wisdom of putting that on for a bunch of teenagers. We aren't even in the US!
I wonder how they found out. Was someone in the lounge listening to the radio? It's not like we had smartphones to notify us.
Freshman year of high school, baybeee. One of two times the TVs ever went on in school. The second was for (very local disaster). Dad was suppose to be on the plane that went into the field (unlike his usual lies he had a ticket) but he decided spending time with his mistress was more important.
It's also Rosh Hashanah dinner tonight. I need to bring "a side" and my brain only figured out corn bread. Hope mom likes it.
I'll dehydrate more celery when I get home. I'd usually do it before leaving but that is a voided warranty so I'd rather be at home if it like. Explodes.
I was playing Quake 3. The phone rang and it was an acquaintance talking about it. At first I didn't understand or think she was right or that it could be as big of a deal. I don't even remember for sure but I think I saw the second plane hit live. All of that is a blur, but it's pretty much all anyone could think about for like 6 months after.
Seeing that in the morning getting ready for one of my first days of school is one of my earliest memories.
Grew up anxious seeing fighter jets fly overhead, and around mail. Moviegoing stopped for a while too.
Felt the political noose tighten with the rampant conservatism but couldn’t articulate it, being so young at the time. Just lots of dull sadness, at least that’s how I remember the early aughts.
I was in Philadelphia getting ready to fly home after visiting my parents. I remember two things: hearing the all circuits busy tone on every phone I tried, and thinking "they can't ground every plane! I should still try to get to the airport" because my parents are insane and I wanted to leave.
Ended up driving cross country instead.
I heard about the first plane on my way to work, and I though some dummy flew their Cesna into one of the towers. When I got to work (development of digital TV boxes, so we had TVs all over the place) we watched it live. I didn't remember if the second plane hit before I got to the office. We were near O'Hare, and it was eerily quiet.
I was too young at the time, like kindergarten or first grade I think. Nobody told me what was happening, so I honestly didn't know about it until a couple years later. I guess they just didn't want to explain it to a kid.
