Happened to me a few weeks ago.

My cousin, whom I cut off for sending my ex nudes (which was the final straw of an amazing shit-ton of straws I had put up with up to that point), called me.

His car had been towed and he needed a ride to the tow place to pick up his car.

He called me at 7.30 in the morning. I said, fine fuck it. I called my work, told him I'd be a little bit late, went and picked him up, took him to the place, had an incredibly awkward and basically conversationless 45 minute car ride with him.

I say conversationless, like, there were words shared, but there wasn't a conversation. I didn't really feel like talking. He ended up, like, telling me about how terrible his life was, blah, blah, blah, and at one point, threatened to commit suicide.

Normally I would take that very seriously, but given our history and how I was feeling at the moment, I was like, you know, he's done this shit before. Even if he does, it's not my responsibility to keep him alive.

I dropped him off, turned around and went to work, only 20 or 30 minutes after getting to work realizing that he had so much weed stink on him that without even coming into contact with him with having an air gap on the window and AC blowing the whole time, I now stunk like weed.

So, I told my boss, like, he had already been aware of what was going on, and I said, look, I smell like weed, I feel disgusting. I'm just gonna go home and work from home for the rest of the day, and my boss was cool with it.

I said all of that to say but it's not a bad thing to help people out, even shitty, horrible people, when they need your help.

Like sure, just like my cousin, they probably won't ever call you or even send you a text to say thank you, but if you feel like you want to put the effort in to help that person because they have asked you for help, you should not feel bad about that.

And if you choose not to help them because of who they are, you shouldn't feel bad about that either.
