That's cute! As someone hoping to make a pirate hat, what materials did you use? Did you shape the hat yourself or bought one and added the pointy bit to it?

I've bought a wool cap blank from Etsy.

If you look how industrial hat production works, say, how they do cowboy hats, they basically do blanks separately and have dedicated craftsmen that have steam tools shape the hat, polish it and attach ribbons & stuff.

So to match the wool base I've bought wool felt - the wool fabric itself doesn't really retain shape. Just beware that some of them look more like plastic while some look more wool-ish (and bit more soft & bendy). I've ordered black & purple felt and black was like the first and purple like the later, so I just went with all purple.

I finally got time to look into it, klicked the etsy link and feel as if I stepped into the hat shop from Howl's moving castle :D

This is excellent. Be sure to share more. No doubt there will be a robe/costume to go with this hat?

It will sound weird but it's actually for the day-to-day use. It's sunny now. I have pretty big head and most of the hats just fly off at the first wind. I have one yellow straw hat that fits but it doesnt match my usual outfit. All the usual normie stores just failed me.

I love that! If you bring back wizard hats the world will owe you a debt. I've always wanted to make some cloaks for some similar whimsy
