inspired by Maria's last post, I thought I ought to show off my custom keyboard I made with my girlfriend! It's a fucked up layout that I like. It's technically open source but I really wouldn't recommend it as I've never bothered to actually get the screen working 🥴

But why are the pipe and slash keys on the bottom row :(
eh, let them have fun. seems pretty reasonable to me. not everything needs to bog-standard qwerty whatever everyone's used to.
I've heard that its more ergonomic. Instead of stretching your fingers diagonally to certain keys, they just move forwards and backwards.
Haven't tried yet because it looks too narrow. Will experiment with a split keyboard if I can find one cheap

what do the portal keys do?
They switch layers, which lets my type more symbols, emoji, print screen etc. oh, I guess I should also say that the rotary encoders do volume up/down and track forward and back and when pressed in they play/pause. They were intended to both have separate functions when pressed in but I did an oopsie in the pcb so they do the same thing. I could fix it with a razor and some wire but I haven't been bothered to in the last year or two

It's pretty close to a OLKB Preonic other than the arrow keys.
