Nothing will stop the sheeps from buying FC27, for example.

That was the first game I thought of too. They will buy that game no matter what. Same with FC28, 29, etc.

It was also a highly political move, so I understand people blocking everything political from their feeds missing this one.

The Saudis don't care, they're amoral like all the other billionaires and don't care for their ideology, only for money. They want to wash their image for economic and diplomatic reasons, just like with sports.

Have EA employees put a lot of unrestrained creativity into the product before though? I mean in the last 20 years?

Saudis is trying to diversify from oil/gas economy, i dont see this bode well for the country.
