Playstation: Digital ownership is the future
Also Playstation:
No no, you don't need discs anymore!
Seriously go check out GoG, there's always games on sale, and you can just play them
Don't even need to install #GOG's games in some cases:
unzip (Linux installer).shand/orinnoextract (Windows installer).exe(and not familiar with MacOS to comment)
Then just find the binary/executable file
and hope you're not missing a mandatory library/dependencyBut joke about dependencies aside, some distros can be very moody with GOG's installers (looking at you, Batocera), so unpacking may be needed in those cases.
Also good to quickly get needed files, e.g. for emulated games you want to play in your own emulators, and for games with source ports.
If you're already familiar with it, you may like https://droposs.org/, sounds like it'd be right up your alley
Wasn't aware. Makes me curious how it differentiates from Heroic.
Thsi is different, heroic is simply a launcher, this is a full self hosted server and client. If you have a nas or server you can host your DRM free games and install them on your clients. Idk if you self host, but it's a neat project. For me I was getting lost having installers and files everywhere.
I am hoping for heroic support someday, so you can have it all in one client, but it's a small project still
