(Discussion) Would people be interested in a "no text" rule?
I believe that banning text-focused posts would give the community more identity. The posts that have text in big part seem like content you'd encounter in any other meme/political community anyway. This is just a discussion post to see how the community feels about these. Thank you.

I'm definitely here for the pictures mainly, so I wouldn't mind.
If by text focused you mean the entire thing is conveyed through text and doesn't require an image, yes. If the setting of the image is necessary but the text makes it weird I would loke to keep those.
For example, if there was a beware of dog sign on a cage with a tiger then I would want to keep it. The text and image work together.
Text posts that happen to have an image tacked on, but would work without the text can go away. Especially reaction images to walls of text.
Sounds acceptable. I think I'd want to go for 'no captions' and 'no social media screenshots' to let the picture speak for itself with no distractions.
Ideally I'd love no text in the picture at all but we don't have the population for this and It'd kill the community.

The kind of thing I'm thinking of is a sign we have in at least one private parking lot that has the exact red octagon with white edge but instead of STOP it says SLOW DOWN. It is literally a STOP sign that says something else. That has text, but isn't a caption and only works because the context + words causes a double take.
I'd be ok without something like that and going full image only if that seems like a hard nuance to moderate.
I look at pictures but I interact with text. I like text.
Edit: ive just seen which community this is. It came up first in my feed I thought it was a flag from my instance provider. I only come to hmmm for pictures
If it's a rule you want to enforce, I think it'd be great, especially given that we can just spin up a hmmm community on another instance if there are folks who are clamoring to make text posts. I'm just always nervous because lemmings can get very angry about moderation decisions and that can lead to moderator burnout.

As a lurker... Im here for the captionless photos. Im ok with some text if its part of the hmmm... But if its a meme or two facebook posts back to back id rather not see that here.
I want to look at the photo and go hmmmmmmmmmm. Then go to the comments to discus.

Well, this would essentially prevent screenshot posts by extension. Unless you mean random, ugly ui elements but with no text in which case it wouldn't.

I intend to make a post in a few days with the proposal for new rules for additional feedback and to make sure that the community is on board and that nothing is too vague and such.
E2: Actually, after looking a bit more I think I will propose another one for allowing only image posts since there was a case(s?) of sharing an article link.
I really prefer no-text-focus for hmmm memes, since in my opinion, that's the point of the joke. You look at it, little to no reading, and go "hmmm".
If the text is telling you what to "hmm" is (like when people add fake stories above it), then it defeats the point
