I'm closing in on 500 hours and on my 4th run through, first after 1.0 yadda yadda. I don't think I've ever once gone out of my way to do a single quest, ever. That is until 1.0 forced you to do 2 or 3, but that's it.

I much prefer the loop of catching, leveling up, leveling your base, and getting new tech. I probably wouldn't even do the towers if tech wasn't locked behind them lol

And yet this isn't a full problem. But when you have the quests as part of the game, I kind of expected a little bit more than the Pal Critic. These are very... boring, and have a simple fix. Allow the user to select a pal from the box.

The general loop is good, but the levelling is somewhat extreme, I've ignore some of the techs because I knew that in the next 5 min I would have unlocked the next tier. So it feels somewhat off.

I literally never unlocked a weapon tech because all of the schematics you get will quickly outclass any default weapon. The tech tree does seem paced incredibly weird.

The schematics needs some love too. But I was already in the 4k words blogpost, and adding more on this would make the post waaaaay too long.

No, this is a bandaid in a broken bone, kind of solve the problem if you ignore the damage.

Nice writeup. I agree some of the quests are just mind-numbing, like the pal critic quests. I think those are the only quests I haven't done yet, despite 300ish hours and the palpedia complete (minus catch bonuses). I just do not want to keep going back and forth 5 times to each of the 10? 15? Pal critics across the world.

Yep of we'd have access to our palbox beside those critics , I'd do them, but the back and forth is annoying

This is one of my critics. (Pun not inteded)

And with a simple fix. Allow the box.
