Last I heard he shrine was owned and run by revisionist fuck-heads, so that's mildly surprising.
Neat fact: Japan maintained continuity of government through surrender and occupation. In Germany, a new government with a new constitution was formed. Nazi ideology, symbology, and officials were purged. (to one extent or another).
Not so in Japan. Only the top leadership was removed (but not the emperor). Their culture and curriculum puts Neo-Confederates to shame with it's atrocity-denial and historical mutilation.
"Denazification" after WW2 was a farce. Only the Soviet-occupied territories actually purged Nazi officials (even they let some slip through or even get new roles), but the other Allied forces basically just got a bunch of Nazis to tone down that Nazi stuff and pretend to be liberal democrats.
